Ammolite : steven universe x reader

If we go down we're going down together.

"Hello guys, what's on your mind for today?" says Lars, his hair fluffy in an almost mohawk type style.
Steven says, "The usual for me."
I don't come here as often as him so I'm still trying to find one for me. I look through the glass, revealing multiple different types of donuts. One catches my eye.
"I'll take that one." I say as I point to the glass right at a Vanilla donut with chocolate frosting and sprinkles.

"Alright that'll be $2.67" replies Sadie, as Lars bags up our donuts.

Steven and I both reach into our pockets I pull out 2 dollars and he pulls out one, perfect.
Sadie gives us our change and we turn around to walk out.
"Thank you!" Steven calls out
"No problem guys see you later!" Sadie calls back

Steven and I walk towards the shore and sit down by the ocean. He opens the bag and hands me my donut. "Thanks" I say reaching for my donut. He pulls his donut out and we both start eating. Once i finished, I laid down in the sand. He then followed suit.

"I love days like these." I say turning my head towards Steven.
"Me too." he replies looking back at me.

The sun was shining, there was barely any clouds in the sky. It was the perfect day.

Suddenly, the sky got dark, like there was a large shadow over us. Steven and I both sat up, I could feel my h/l h/c hair blowing in the sudden wind, confused looks plastered on our faces. We look up in the sky once again, to see what looked to be a giant green hand??
"Is that.. a hand?" Steven says.
"Steven..." I say reaching my hand towards him.
"y/n we need to get back to the temple." he replies as he grabs my hand. We both stand up and start running down the coast. We see the gems all standing on the beach with a telescope pointed to the sky. Greg's there too.

"Steven! There you are!" Greg says as he runs towards Steven for a hug. "I'm glad you guys are safe."

"Guys, do you see that thing in the sky?" Steven asks. Which they obviously do, unless they were star gazing in the middle of the day.
Pearl then replies with, "It's a ship, we have to assume it's Peridot." Oh boy.
"Lapis told us she'd be coming. With advanced weapons and reinforcements." Garnet says.
Lapis? I think Steven was telling me about her. The blue gem who tried to steal the ocean. Well that isn't how Steven put it but that's what it sounded like happened.

"It's happening." Said Greg.

"Wait I don't follow. What's happening?" I replied, I was ignored.

"Ready the light cannons!" Garnet commands.

Amethyst then pushes the light cannons into position. "Steven." Garnet continues, "Light 'em up." Steven then nods his head and begins "If every pork chop we're perfect." Wait where is he going with this. "We wouldn't have hotdogs." He finished. I turned towards him, confused on how that had any relevance to what's happening.

To my surprise, the cannons started up and fired a white laser right towards the green hand in the sky. It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. It was like the beams were dancing.

The hand changed positions and blocked the beam. It didn't help at all.

"No effect." Garnet said.
"What now?" replied Greg.
"We'll have to take it head on." Garnet continued, "The whole town might be in danger."
"I have to make a call." Steven interrupted, "Time for some political favors."

I was just standing there in shock. I knew Steven dealt with things like this but how is he so calm in this situation. He's even cracking lame jokes. Steven walked off, talking to who I assume is Mayor Dewey.

I see Mayor Dewey now making some lame speech about evacuation. I turn back to see Greg stocking up his van. Steven says, "Oh hey, that's a great idea dad, you should leave with the rest of-" He glances down to see his hamburger backpack next to my hotdog backpack he bought me that I never use. "Is that our luggage?" He asks.

Garnet then goes on some long spiel about how the towns people need Steven to be their voice. Cute but I know she's just making this up to get him out of danger.

Steven, Greg and I get into the car. Steven in the passenger seat, me in the back.

"Maybe when Peridot gets to Earth, she'll see how nice all the people are, and she wont wanna hurt anyone." Steven said.

"I don't know Steven, after everything you told me about her, I think she's just a gem following orders. And could be very dangerous." I replied.

"She's right stu-ball. These other gems aren't like your mother. They're not like Garnet, Amethyst or Pearl. They're not gonna start caring about people now. They didn't the first time they-" Greg abruptly stopped his sentence. "The first time they what?" Steven asked.

"I mean- it was thousands of years ago! It's not like I was there." Greg replied, Steven then turned to his dad with those puppy dog eyes he uses all the time.
"The gems should be telling you all this stuff, but I mean, I get it! They don't want you thinking of them like that."

"Like what?" Steven replied. To which Greg didn't answer. "Dad, like what?!"
"Like aliens Steven! Aliens that invaded Earth!" Greg shouted.
"What?" Steven and I both said in unison as I furrowed my brows in confusion.
"Everything they do is to make up for it. But they just can't forgive themselves, do you understand?" Greg continues, "They we're doing something awful to the planet and your mother couldn't stand it anymore. She told me that's why she had to turn on her own kind. She gave up everything just to stop what they started here, and to drive the invading gems off of Earth."
"damn.." I mutter to myself.
"So she saved the world! that's good!" Steven said.
"No such thing as a good war Steven." I bud in.
"Gems were destroyed, people too. In the end your mother could only save a handful of her closest friends. If it weren't for her shield, man, I don't know." Greg paused and looked over to see Steven saddened face. He then continued, "But hey! let's look on the bright side. We're gonna drive by that waffle place in a couple miles."

I could tell waffles wouldn't be able to cheer Steven up after what Greg just dumped on him.
Steven suddenly came to a realization of some sort and shouted "We gotta go back! Turn the van around!" Greg and Steven argued back and Steven was making some pretty good points. Steven has his moms shield, the shield that saved the crystal gems, well according to what Greg said. It was very awkward for me to be there during all this. I felt like I shouldn't be there. I didn't know anything about what they were talking about so I just sat and listened. After Greg refuse to turn around, Steven got fed up and punched the dashboard, the airbag went off! One thing led to another and Stevens bubble triggered, sending him flying out of the car.

"Steven!!" Greg and I shouted in unison.
Greg stopped the van and we ran out toward Steven who was now laying in a ditch.

"Steven are you okay!?" I shouted while running towards him.

He lifted his head up with tears in his eyes.
the towns people gathered around to see if we were all okay. I'm starting to love my home more and more each day.

"Dad please. I have to go back." Says Steven.

Suddenly Lion showed up. Our perfect way back.
Steven hopped on lion, as I was going to, Steven stopped me.

"No y/n I don't want you to come, I would never forgive myself if you got hurt." Steven told me.

"Steven you're not going without me. I want to be there with you! You're my best friend. If we go down we're going down together." I replied. Steven then wiped a non-existent tear from his eye. He reached his hand down and helped me mount onto Lion.

"Please be careful stu-ball. Or I'm gonna run fresh out of family." said Greg.

With that Steven and I were on our way. I hugged my arms around Steven and closed my eyes as we teleported with Lion.

Oh boy what am I getting myself into.
