Ammolite : steven universe x reader

I head back over to the temple and see Steven, Buck and Sour Cream at the temple. "Look y/ns here let's get going!" Jenny called out. We all hop into what I call the pizza-mobile.

Jenny's driving, Stevens in the passenger seat and Buck, Sour cream and I are all in the back.

Buck leans to me and says, "Breathe deep y/n, this is the smell of freedom." So I take a deep sniff. "Freedom smells like pepperoni." I reply, causing a chuckle from Steven. "That's just the car." Jenny buds in.

"You know what food definitely doesn't smell like freedom?" Sour cream asked, "Fish."
"Why fish?" I question.
"Uh oh, here we go." Jenny added.
"I just don't get what wrong with wanting to be a DJ, but my step-dad was all on my case again today saying 'meh meh meh me meh ruu rur rar'. Eugh. I'm just like, 'I don't wanna be a fisherman everyone knows you can't rave in a rain coat stepdad!'" Sour cream stated.
"Atleast he only bugs you about one thing." Buck started, "My dads gotta say something about everything I do because Im the mayors son, and I'm like, 'you can't tell me what to do I'm the mayors-' wait" He finishes, turning to the window.
"Haha please, you guys are just walking in cake with that talk. You guys don't even know what bad is until you have a sister. Look I don't know why i have to spell it out that I'm the evil twin and she's the good one!" Jenny started blabbing about. After she was done, I decided since is apparently 'sharing time', I'd share too.

"I never really see my dad anymore." I said, "Ever since his job started giving him business trips to go on, I only see him about 6 days a month. When he's away he doesn't even bother keeping in touch with me."
"Dang." Buck replied.

"Family stuff is tricky." Steven stated, "A few months back, my dad and the gems grounded me from TV. Then I found out that the gems are alien rebels and that there are other gems out in space that want us dead because they think we're traitors, and they tried to take me hostage because they think Im my mom. And.. Maybe I kind of am? I wish I could talk to Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl about it but I think they kind of blame me for my mom not being around."

The car was quiet for a minute because none of us knew how to reply.

"That's heavy." Jenny stated.
"I guess" Steven replied.
"You're a real champ Steven Universe" Buck added.
"Yeah man, I'd turn to fishing in a heart beat if it meant dealing with thaaa-THAT!" Sour cream shouted, pointing in the corn field, causing Jenny to stop the car.
"What is it?!" Jenny asked.
"Glowwwiinnggg"
We all turned our heads over to the ominous glowing green light in the corn field.
"We gotta check it out." Sour cream stated.
"I'm down." Buck said.
"Alright, hold on." Jenny said as she turned and drove through the corn field.
"I have a bad feeling about this." I mumbled.

We all walk up to the center of the big glowing star now visible on the ground. Right in the middle is a green ball like orb. Steven and I knew what it was.

"Peridot's escape pod." I said.
"Okay! Everybody step back! This is a gem machine and could be extremely dangerous." Steven added.
"Check it out!" Sour cream said as he tossed a rock at the machine. "Boom!" He shouted as it hit. The three teenagers start to walk towards the pod. "Wait guys! Peridot might still be in there!" I shout at them, but they don't budge. Buck just turns around and says, "Peri-what?" Steven and I look at eachother worriedly.

"This biz is empty!" Jenny calls.
"You need to get away from there!" Steven demands, pushing Jenny away from the escape pod. "Woah, you need to relax. It's not doing anything." Jenny argued.
"It's not just the pod." I stated.
"This means Peridot is just- out there some where trying to hurt the Earth." Steven continued.

"Not cool, Earth forever." Buck said as he kicked the machine. Sourcream still throwing rocks at it.

"y/n, come take a selfie with me and this thing." Jenny said. Before I could reply back Steven says, "No Jenny, we're serious." "So am I." Jenny argued back before switching the subject. "Sourcream what about you?"
"Sure" He replied, "I'm down for whatever."
"Buck?"
"Nah, I like to experience the moment for what it is sometimes. Plus the lighting is weird." He replied.
"Ugh okay. y/n, Steven, last call." Jenny said, "I got funny stickers!"

Apparently that did it for Steven because we did get our picture taken. After a long photoshot, Jenny came up with an idea, she told Steven to get in the pod.

"Woah okay I don't know about that.." I stated.
"Just for a second! One picture." Jenny pleaded.
Steven started actually walking towards it. I grabbed his shoulder and turned him to look at me. "Steven stop this could be dangerous!" I argued.
"Ugh why'd we have to invite the fun police." Jenny replied. I shut my mouth and looked away.

I took a few steps away and looked at the star engraved in the ground. How did that even happen? I suddenly hear some beeping coming from the crash site and see that Stevens in the pod and the pod is now walking around and glowing. No one seems to be hurt, they're just messing around. I pull out my phone and it's 10:30pm. Out of no where the pod starts firing lasers.

I look to see that the three teenagers are now running away in fear from the glowing green pod. The machine turned and made it way toward me causing me to jump to the side and run over with the rest of the group. The pod turned back our way and started advancing towards us again. I put my hand up. Suddenly three gems hopped into my vision.

"We'll save you humans!" Pearl said, "I can't believe it. Peridot's still inside."
"And probably weak from the landing! Don't hold back!" Garnet stated.

The gems started advancing on the pod. And attacking it with Steven inside!
"No!" Us humans shouted in unison.
Amethyst threw her whip around the pod and Garnet started to pull it, slowly.
"You've got a lot of nerve taking refuge here. Of all places!" Garnet started, "But I don't know where you get off attacking defenseless humans in your deadbeat escape pod. And if you think you're safe here, well, I got news for you. You lost!" Garnet said as she summoned her gauntlet, "Now stay off my planet!" As her hand approached the pod to punch, I jumped in the way.

"STOP!!" I yelled. She stopped. "Stevens in there."

Garnet broke open the pod, allowing Steven to get out. "Steven!? What were you doing?" Amethyst shouted
"You found Peridots escape pod and you didn't come get us immediately!?" Pearl started, "Shame on you!" She turns to me, "And you too y/n. I expected better from you."

"Steven this is unacceptable. I'm very disappointed" Garnet stated.

"Hey cut them some slack." Jenny interrupted.

"We just wanted Steven to have some fun. I don't know what's going on with aliens trying to abduct them but it sounds like they got a lot on their mind." Sourcream argued.
"Everyone needs a break once in a while." Jenny added.
"They're just kids." Buck stated.

"Maybe we have been a little hard on them lately." Pearl said to Garnet. "They did just break us out of space jail." Amethyst added.
"Steven." Garnet started. "You are ungrounded from TV."

I look over at Steven to see his reaction and he had stars in his eyes. We took a bunch of fun selfies and headed home.
