"Acapella?" Amity asked curiously.
"Oh, so you know how instruments are used to make music?" Luz said. She forgot there were still a few things that Amity didn't properly understand about the human world.
"Yeah." Amity answered, coming to sit next to Luz.
"Acapella is when you improvise all the instrument sounds with your mouth instead." Luz explained, pointing to her lips. At Amity's skeptical expression, Luz laughed softly, albeit awkwardly, and waved the movie case. "Alright, how about we just watch this so that you can see for yourself?"
"Sounds good to me." Amity said simply, eager to understand better.
Luz grinned and stood, crossing the room to swap out the movies in the DVD player and coming back to the couch to sit down. Amity poured herself a quick cup of apple blood while Luz opted for one of her own human drinks on the table. It didn't take long for them to return to their previous position as before, with Amity fully invested in the movie and Luz admiring the way she laughed at some of the scenes and dialogue. It always made her happy to see Amity enjoying the things that brought Luz similar joy back home, and even more so to actually be able to share such things with her in the first place.
During a particular shower scene between the main girl and the redhead, two characters that Amity already believed needed and deserved to be together, the greenette turned her attention to her girlfriend ready to relay her thoughts when she paused, taken aback by Luz already watching her with a look of fondness possessing her features.
"What?" Amity asked, to which Luz's eyes widened slightly and she cleared her throat a little.
"Oh, I uh.. Nothing." Luz replied. She attempted to return her attention to the screen, but she knew Amity wasn't going to drop it.
"No, what is it?" Amity leaned up more to properly look Luz in the face.
The corner of Luz's mouth pulled back a bit sheepishly and she fumbled in search of words for a moment. "I'm... I'm just glad you're enjoying the movie, is all."
"Mm. Mhm." Amity nodded, not buying it for a second. "I doubt that's all." When Luz said nothing more, not even turning to look at her, Amity reached up to cup a hand at her cheek and guide her face in her direction. In the light of the TV screen, she could tell that Luz was blushing faintly. "Luz, you know you can talk to me. About anything."
Luz exhaled and pressed her cheek further into the palm of Amity's hand. "I know..." she mumbled. "I meant what I said, I'm glad you're enjoying the movie. I was just... thinking.."
"About?"
"...About how I never got to share things I enjoyed like this back home. When I was younger." Luz said quietly. She reached up and tucked her fingers into her hair, scratching at her head. Amity's expression softened as the brunette went on. "It means a lot to me that you try the things I like, even if you don't end up liking it yourself. You don't judge the little things that make me happy, you don't say I'm weird for liking something. I told you about how I wasn't exactly... anything back in my human schools. I had maybe... one or two friends? But even then, I was just an outsider. Our interests didn't line up very much and good luck on finding anyone that didn't think Azura was a 'kid's book.'" Luz accented her words with quotation marks and a scoff. She eased up. "But here, I have you, Willow, Gus, Hunter, Eda, King, everybody. And you all love me just as I am and at least try to take interest in my dumb human hobbies and stuff. Even if for Gus it's more of a fascination, but..." She chuckled lightly.
"Luz." Amity said, and the Latina's mouth closed silently. "It's okay. I understand how you feel. You and I both know I'm no stranger to hiding who I really am to those around me. It wasn't until you came around that I started to feel and act like myself." Amity inched upwards, gifting Luz with a gentle and encouraging smile. "But I'm glad that you're happy. And I'm glad I get to be the one you share these things with like this." She nodded her head towards the movie. "Anything that makes you happy is okay in my book. Okay?"
