Luz stretched her arms over her head as she descended the stairs of the school, sighing in relief that the day was finally over and that it was Friday. It felt pretty good to look forward to a whole weekend of mindless nothing for a couple of days. Maybe she'd hang out with Willow and Gus for a bit, or practice some more spell combinations on a few ne're do wells that decided it was a good idea to cause Eda some trouble at her shop a couple days ago. Though, when her eyes fell on a familiar green mane ahead of her, a devious smile touched her lips.
Or maybe...
Luz skipped down the rest of the stairs up to her girlfriend, pouncing on her shoulders with a laugh. "Ami!"
Amity yelped in surprise, scrambling to keep her armload of book in her grasp as she righted herself and turned to see who the culprit was disturbing her. She was just about ready to cuss them out until her eyes fell on the grinning face of her girlfriend and she instead huffed. "Luz! What the hell?!"
"Sorry, sorry." Luz held her hands up in defense and cocked her head in curiosity, nodding at the books Amity was holding. "Whatcha got there?"
"Oh, I'm stopping by the library to get an early start on my homework. Or maybe help them out for a couple hours for some extra pay. It depends on what they're up to when I get there." Amity explained.
Luz visibly deflated and sighed, scratching sheepishly at her head. "Oh, okay... I was kinda hoping we could hang out for a while."
Amity shifted her books to one arm and reached out to cup Luz's cheek with her now free hand, stroking it with her thumb affectionately. "I'm sorry, but maybe tomorrow okay? I promise I'll make it up to you." She added a playful wink, which perked Luz up a bit and a small smile graced her features. "I love you."
"Love you, too." Luz replied. "Good luck with your homework, not that you need it."
Amity rolled her eyes and leaned up to plant a parting kiss on Luz's lips, giving her one last smile and wave over her shoulder as she turned around and walked away in the direction of town. Luz waved after her, her smile now faltering when she dropped her hand to her hip and grimaced slightly.
Well, at least she could still have Gus and Willow. Maybe they'd be willing to come over after they dropped their stuff off at their homes. She turned heel and started making her way to The Owl House, under the guise of two green haired twins in the distance.
*~*~*~*~*
Or maybe she wouldn't have Willow and Gus.
"Ah, sorry Luz. I'm, um, stuck helping my dads with our garden this weekend." Willow said through the scroll. "We might be getting some boiling rains and I need to help prepare and maintain the protection field."
"Yeah, and it's... bring your kid to work at my dad's job tomorrow so I'll be going with him." Gus explained from his side. "I need to review the stories I'll be covering with him tonight."
Luz groaned and rolled over on her bed. "I don't recall the forecast calling for that much rain. And Gus, you hate going to your dad's job with him."
"Which is true, but he's not giving me a way out either." Gus said. Why did his tone come off as a bit panicked?
"And my dads take even the slightest chance of boiling rain very seriously. And you know how I am about my plants." Willow said.
"Ugh, fine. I guess." Luz caved. "See you guys Monday?"
"Absolutely." Gus said.
"Of course." said Willow.
They trio said their goodbyes and Luz sighed deeply as she tossed her scroll at the top of her bed. She covered her eyes with her hands. Mindless nothing was no fun if it was by yourself, most of the time. She could still track down those asshole kids, that would give her some entertainment for a good hour or two. Luz lifted her legs and kicked herself up into a sitting position, getting to her feet and making her way over to her closet to grab her bat when she heard her scroll go off on her bed.
