"Hmph. Maybe Gus and Willow came around." Luz mused to herself as she turned around and picked up her scroll.
Her eyes widened a little with intrigue when she saw that the message wasn't from either of her friends, but from Amity.
Kitten (03:17 pm):
Change of plans. Be at the manor at 7. I'll be waiting for you ;)
Luz felt her heart pick up in her chest and chuckled. This evening wasn't going to totally blow after all. Forget the bat, Luz had other preparations to make.
*~*~*~*~*
Amity let out a groan of partial exhaustion as she turned her key in the lock of the door and pushed it open, stepping into her house tentatively and prepared to be bombarded by her sometimes insufferable brother and sister.
Except there was no sound of approaching footsteps, voices, and certainly no sign of them anywhere in the foyer. Amity glanced around suspiciously. She knew her parents weren't home, as they had left hours ago for their conference and weren't expected to be back until Tuesday the latest. The manor was eerily quiet.
"Ed?" she called, taking another step further into the room. Silence. "Em?"
Met again with no answer, Amity cautiously dropped her guard and approached the staircase to make her way to her room. She kept her wits about her, remaining aware in case anything (or anyone) were to jump out in front of her and give her a good scare. Her hand was already itching to draw a spell circle and cast a fireball in offense. It wouldn't be the first time where the twins had made themselves scarce just to play a prank on her.
Upon reaching her door, Amity went through with creating a small purple fireball in one hand and reached for the doorknob with the other. She closed her hand around it and, with a breath, she turned the knob and shoved the door open like she was trying to hit someone hiding behind it. When she didn't hear the telltale thud of someone's head or body against the door, her eyebrows scrunched together and she extinguished the fireball to walk inside her room. Instead of being met with her siblings, she was met with something much more... beautiful. And odd.
The lights were off in her room, but there was still a warm glow to it cast by the strategically placed candles around it. Along with the candles, there were rose petals scattered from the doorway and leading to the bed where there were more decorating the covers. The canopy above her bed was dressed in small white fairy lights behind each curtain which accented the pinkness of Amity's blanket. There was also a faint scent in the air, something like vanilla. Back on the bed, propped up against her amass of pillows, was a folded note addressed to her.
"Ooookay?" Amity murmured, dropping her backpack by her door and approaching the bed skeptically.
She leaned down and picked up the note, unfolding it to read it with a quirked brow.
Mittens,
Luz will be at the house at 7pm.
Enjoy your evening with Luz with 100% guaranteed privacy and no interruptions.
-Ed, Em, and friends.
Amity looked around her room, an eyebrow cocked in confusion and intrigue. This had to be some sort of trick, right? There's no way her siblings had done something this nice for her and Luz. Their friends, she would believe, and be inclined to think that they were just taking some of the credit. Then again, there was no way anyone would have known to set this up when their parents weren't home except for her brother and sister. So maybe they did have some sort of hand in putting this together.
