"I'm not going to run after you if you're not running!" Gwi-nam keeps chasing her until they reach the bridge.
Instead of stopping, Hye-wol's pace becomes faster as the wind brushes her hair backwards, "Then stop running!"
From the other side of the bridge, she could make out Su-hyeok's tall stature, the lad spotted her the same time she saw him. His thick brows furrows in confusion as Hye-wol cannot help herself but to look over her shoulder. Seeing Gwi-nam gaining on her fuels her to run even faster, reaching Su-hyeok and hiding behind the tall guy.
"Su... Su-hyeok ah," she tries to said while catching her breath, "Gwi---Gwi-nam... he scares me!"
The said guy skidded to a halt at the sight of his ex friend, panting but a smirk appears on his lips, "Lee Su-hyeok, fancy seeing you here."
Su-hyeok stood tall, seemingly hiding the smaller girl behind his back as Gwi-nam tries to peek over his stature, "What are you doing?"
But the bully ignores him, eyes fixated on the vixen, "Yah Shim Hye-wol, come out of there. I just want to talk to you, I'm not going to hurt you."
It might be her prejudice opinion or she's just hallucinating because she could hear the undertone of malice on his voice.
"Yeah right, no thanks." she responded, a little bit braver because Su-hyeok is standing between them.
"Aish you little brat," The bully took a step forward, intending to grab her from behind Su-hyeok but the latter grabs him on his wrist with a firm grip instead, halting his movements.
"Leave her alone, Yoon Gwi-nam." There's a warning on Su-hyeok's voice, dark eyes glaring daggers as the grip on Gwi-nam's wrist tightens. Just the sight of the bully's beat up face and Hye-wol's scared reaction makes his blood boil as his mind starts to jump into a conclusion.
The bully harshly pull his wrist back from his grip, "Fuck off, Lee Su-hyeok. You're nothing better than me."
'Ohhh this is drama' - Hye-wol thought, watching as the two exchange daggers through their glare. If this is comics, there would probably be a lightning crackling in between of them.
Hye-wol was amazed on how they seem to live a life like ordinary people, not some character in a novel where the author only shows a glimpse of their life. Just like Lee Su-hyeok and Yoon Gwi-nam, the former being an ex bully and the latter is the main bully's gopher. She didn't include any backstory aside from that but by the way they interact, they seem to have a much deeper history.
"Touch her again and you'll see what I am capable of. I'm warning you," Su-hyeok said with gritted teeth before turning to Hye-wol who immediately stands up straight.
Su-hyeok wraps an arm around her shoulders, softly prompting her to turn around, "Let's go."
As the two walks away, Gwi-nam watches their retreating figures with resentment swimming on his eyes but it slightly softens when Hye-wol suddenly look behind her and through her shoulders, sticking her tongue out like a child before turning back and matching Su-hyeok's pace.
He shakes his head in disbelief, oblivious to the smile that appears on his lips as he scoffs, "Choding."
Meanwhile, Su-hyeok's thick brows were furrowed as they walk through the hallway in silence. Hye-wol was oblivious to the dark aura surrounding the lad, too busy about the plot hole she found in this reality; Where's the professors and supervisors that roam the school in school hours because as far as she can remember, no one scolded them for running and screaming in the hallway.
Her reverie was interrupted when Su-hyeok suddenly stops walking, causing her face to crash into his broad back. Hye-wol hisses, stumbling a couple steps backward while glaring at Su-hyeok, "A little reminder would suffice,"
"I'm sorry," The tall guy apologizes, "Did Gwi-nam touches you?"
"Yes," She must've said it a little bit faster judging by the way Su-hyeok's expression darken so she immediately continues, "Not inappropriately though. He pulls me to disinfect his wounds and then I kind of pissed him off so I ran away from him but he starts chasing me and then I saw you." she said honestly. There's no need to lie, anyway. Gwi-nam is already known for being a temperamental bully.
Su-hyeok's expression morph into amusement, "You pissed him off?"
Hye-wol nodded, "It's not even that hard to piss him off. The guy seems to have a beef with everything."
"Did he hurt you?" he asks next, tucking the strand of hair framing her face.
Hye-wol shakes her head, "Nah, I ran before he could."
Su-hyeok sighs and with a soft voice, he stated, "If he bothers you again, just call me, okay?"
"I don't think you'll hear me if I call you. Unless you have enhanced hearing." She responded playfully, knowing that it wasn't what he meant.
Hye-wol couldn't handle the feels from the way he treats her-- or anyone in the circle of friends she manage to acquire after transmigrating in this novel. She has never been in a relationship, neither platonic nor romantic. In her reality, no one cares about her, no one would get mad if she wouldn't eat nor no one would check if she's fine. She has her manager but her manager only calls for the script update or work related problems. So she didn't know how to act nor respond at moments like this.
Instead of responding, Su-hyeok suddenly held out his right hand, palm facing the ceiling, "Give me your phone then."
Su-hyeok is handsome and hot, Hye-wol won't even deny it and just like any hormonal teen, Hye-wol didn't hesitate to reach out for her phone in the pocket of her skirt to hand it to the lad. Su-hyeok dials his own number, ringing his own phone to record her number.
Hye-wol's eyes suddenly widens when she realized something, "Wait--- how did you know I have my phone with me?"
Their first subject teacher confiscated all of their phones first thing in the morning and they will only hand it back before they dismiss the class. It was one of the rules every students even in her reality has to obey.
Su-hyeok smirked, "You disappeared even before the class starts," his smirk fell and was replaced with cold and unreadable expression, "You told Pres that you're going to the infirmary but I went to check if you're alright but you weren't there."
Hye-wol had a sudden goosebumps at the quick change of his emotions, his voice dropping and he almost looks like a stranger from the writer's eyes. When the lass blink, the dark glint on his eyes disappears like it wasn't even there before. She shrugs it off as a trick of light.
"I got bored and the nurse left me so I decided to roam around," she admitted. It was partly true but she couldn't say that she had the sudden urge to walk around the hallway. It sounded weird to her, what else to other people?
Su-hyeok suddenly smiles, placing a hand on top of her head, "Let's go then. The bell rang five minutes ago, it's lunch now."
Weird, she didn't even heard the bell.
