Chapter 22

The girl looks at her parents hesitantly for a moment and with a slight smile they encourage her to come closer. Mr. and Mrs. Abbott enter first, the wolf waits outside trying not to get too excited, after about ten minutes Audrey's parents come out and tell the girl to come in.

"Hey... Audrey"

"D... Destiny"
A veil of awkwardness builds between the two

"I really don't know what to say... I'm unforgivable"
The wolf notices that the other is still wearing the bracelet, her heart warms up but at the same time she loses a beat thinking about the suffering the other has experienced

"it's not your fault, it's me who has been too sticky"

"no baby that's not true, I made you a promise and I wasn't able to keep it"
Destiny walks over to the crib, takes the other's hand and starts stroking it

"just... Tell me why you didn't answer"

"I... do you remember the girls we saved that time?"

Audrey nods

"I was with the blonde one"

"I didn't think you were friends"

"well we're not... actually I don't know what we are right now exactly"

"you have your own life too, I understand"

"Audrey i will never be able to forgive myself for what i did, but i assure you i would never do something like that on purpose. You are the most important person to me you know that"
Destiny finishes the sentence by hugging Audrey

"I know big sis, i know"
She replies squeezing her even tighter

The two girls remain silent continuing to hug each other, Destiny caresses the other one's hair softly as she is used to do, after a few minutes the wolf's phone starts ringing

"hello alchemist... Hold on let me put you on speaker"

"hey damsel what are you up to?"
Says the guy on the other end of the phone turning to Audrey

"me? Nothing much I just wanted to try something new"

"I see my sarcasm has rubbed off on you"

"our sarcasm you mean"
Destiny replies

"I'm not talking to you bald wolf"
Nathan replies

"what did you call me!?"

"guys please ahah"
Finally a smile shows up on Audrey's face, Destiny can't help but be infected by it.

The three of them chat for a while until a nurse comes in to get the wolf out of the room

"I love you so much sis, I really do"

"I love you too"

"i love you soooo much too"
Nathan shouts just before Destiny attacks, the two girls however let out a laugh caused by the boy's quirky ways.

They say their goodbyes, but Audrey would be home shortly, meanwhile her parents were confronting Destiny's parents about what to do. An hour after Wolfe's family left the hospital Audrey's family does the same, on the way back they don't talk, her parents prefer to wait until they are home.

"Honey I know you're tired, but we need to talk about this situation for a minute"
Says the father inviting his daughter to sit with him and his wife at the table, Audrey knew this was going to happen so she sits down calmly

"your mother and I have given this a lot of thought, we were hesitant at first but we think this is the best solution"

"we have also discussed it with Destiny's parents and the doctor who examined you.... We think that going to the psychologist can help you a lot to overcome this difficult time honey"

Audrey doesn't think much about it, after all she understood that her parents had already made the final decision and on the other hand continuing to avoid the problem would only make the situation worse

"Alright"
She says only to then get up and head to her room, the idea of telling a stranger her business doesn't excite her much and she also knows that her parents will have to make efforts to pay for the sessions, however she doesn't want to worry anyone anymore.

But as Audrey struggles with her feelings, Destiny will have to deal with hers as well.
