Olive locked her car leaving her phone in it walking with her keys in hand towards the deserted skate park, once she finally reaches it sitting atop the largest ramp with the gorgeous view she always loved about the place.
"Wow Vin, this place is amazing the view is just gorgeously breathtaking" the girl shuddered in amaze, "My view is pretty gorgeous too" the boy smiled at his girlfriend making her blush from his remark.
Olive took a deep breath calming her anxiety, breathing in the fresh air, the calm state she had been depriving herself from took over, closing her eyes. Little did she know this calm state would be interrupted from the person she was trying to escape.
Vinnie left his car taking the same path as the brunette girl just had, completely oblivious to her car he had parked next to, the car he spent the whole summer with her working on. He noticed a girl sitting on the ramp, in their place, choosing to leave the girl he picked a spot just a few metres away where he could still enjoy the familiar environment.
The boy sat there, thinking over all of the terrible things he had done to Olive, how she trusted him and he betrayed her, making her think he chose her best friend over her, and what was his excuse? He wasn't sure if he was ready to admit that to himself let alone anyone else. Then his mind was filled with all the happy memories the couple shared, most right where he was sitting.
"What do you mean you've never danced in public, why am i even dating you?" Olive questioned her boyfriend, "you know what, get up, we're dancing right now!" she giggled. "Ol seriously?" "Nope, no brooding Vinnie, you're dancing with me, let's go" She held her hand out to the boy, him finally taking it. Wrapping her arms around his neck, him wrapping his around her waist holding the girl close, "we don't even have any music" Olive shushed his excuses with a kiss "who said we need music?" she asked, he didn't respond which made her smile, placing her head on his chest, as they swayed in complete bliss, not caring what was going on in the world because they were together.
Vinnie chuckled at the memory, thinking about how she always brought him out of his comfort zone, unknown to him the girl just a few steps away was the one he was thinking about and she had just been made aware he was there.
"Vinnie?" she asked making the boy turn his head, eyes wide, his face softened once he realised the girl had been crying. "Hey Olive, are you alright?" he asked with a soft tone, this made the girl laugh "oh me I'm fine, just crying at a skate park". "Do you mind if I sit?" Vinnie asked the girl, "No um be my guest" she said lightly. Vinnie moved to sit next to girl, it took every bone in his body not to hug and comfort her as he used to.
"So about Georgia's post" he trailed off, "no, no it's fine you don't have to explain it to me, I'm glad you're happy." She plastered a smile on her face, "Olive, we're not dating, we never have and we never will, I wouldn't do that to you" he said sincerely. "Well you did some other things that I was pretty sure you would never do to me, but here we are" she chuckled. "Yeah, you're right, and when I can explain that to you, I promise I will." Vinnie responded.
"I want to be completely honest with you, although we never dated, I did hook up with Georgia after we broke up and we hung out, I was just with her when she posted that and I ended whatever was going on" Vinnie said looking at the girl, "Yeah I know" she whispered, "You do?" "Charli told me she saw you guys hanging out a bit and heard stuff , you know." Olive looked down, "Oh" it was all he could get out.
"Can I ask you something?" Olive looked at him, "Anything" he smiled at her, "was my party the first time?" his heart broke at that, he had treated her so badly she had thought he had sneaking around with her best friend the whole relationship, but could he blame her? No. "Yes, the party was the first time, I know this sounds bad but I'm not that much of a fuck boy" he smiled at her again. "You said you hung out with her, did you ever bring her here?" Olive asked praying that the answer would be no, "No Ollie, I didn't, this was our place, I loved you, well love you, no one will ever take this place from us." Olive hated to admit it but she was happy to hear that he still loved her, it made her wonder if she still loved him, even if she did would she ever be able to forgive him?
"Can I ask you something?" The same words she had just said except they were coming from him, "Of course" she responded, "Do you think we could ever be together again?" he asked, her eyes returning to their familiar place of the ground. "I'm really not sure, you broke my heart Vin" the familiar nickname breaking his heart, not as much as the words she said before it though. "But, as I always say-" she was cut off mid sentence, "If the fates believe it's true love, they will allow" he finished her words. "Yeah exactly" she smiled at the fact he still remembered her words.
"I gotta go, but um I'll see you around, it was really nice to see you again." Olive smiled as she stood up, Vinnie following in her actions. "Yeah, you too" he smiled, he was caught off guard when Olive stepped towards him arms open, he of course returned the gesture, both feeling safe in each other's familiar arms. He couldn't help but smile as Olive walked off towards her car, driving off. "DING" his phone went off, pulling it out of his pocket, you wouldn't believe it but his smile was even bigger now.
