CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE BAD BATCH EPISODE 7 AKA BATTLE SCARS!
If you haven't seen it yet, please do then come back and read this! This oneshot is a variation of that episode, so by reading it, you'll risk spoiling the plot for yourself. With that out of the way, part 1 and 2 of this oneshot will be angsty; if you've seen Episode 7, I think you'll know the reason why. Also will contain some brief mentions of alcohol and injuries. Anyways enjoy!

Tech woke up with another excruciating headache.
Getting up out of his bed, he moved to slip the pieces of his armor overtop of his blacks. As his chestplate snapped satisfyingly into place, he nodded approvingly at how it settled comfortably against his body. Simply wearing the armor gave him a faint feeling of security that he occasionally wondered if the other members of the Bad Batch experienced with their own armor.
He straightened to his full height, then winced as a throb of pain shot through his skull. He was half aware he stumbled into the metallic wall of the Marauder, leaning up against it for temporary support. He pressed his fingers into his temple, and while still ebbing with pain, the intensity of said pain loosened up slightly. A sigh released from the sudden tenseness in his chest; a sigh of relief or of something entirely different, he wasn't certain. He pushed himself gently off the wall, then continued through the ship.
After one messy expedition to retrieve a lizard by the name of Ruby, Tech and the others soon came into the dimly lit space that was Cid's Parlor. Tech admittedly had grown somewhat used to the rundown bar. Now he could almost consider it having some real charm, and not the sort of sarcastic charm he had snarked about when first coming face to face with the building.
Cid took the contained lizard, and after a bit of banter between her and the group, she asked for it to be brought into the back. Echo moved over to the bar, picking up the cage from where it had been set down. Then he walked after Cid with the cage, and Tech took it upon himself to follow a few steps in behind him. Echo glanced over his shoulder, meeting Tech's eyes. Tech gave a small nod to the reg, recieving a light smile in response.
Sometime after the Republic fell and the Empire began to rise up, The Bad Batch had created a system to assure nobody was alone outside of the ship... and especially in crime-ridden places like these. It wasn't that Tech disliked Cid, or even believed she had good reason to cause them harm, but he couldn't help being a little wary of her. Hunter still didn't trust her, for logical reasons, and Tech had no inclination to trust her either. Still, she did provide them with the credits to get by, and he did appreciate her for that.
"Just set it down over there," Cid said as the three of them entered her office. She gestured vaguely to the right side of her desk. Tech stepped forward, brushing past his brother to clear a space to set the cage down.
While Cid was grabbing a case of credits, Tech gathered up papers from Cid's desk into his arms. He couldn't resist skimming over the writings on the papers as he created an open spot for Echo to place the cage. Most of the writing read of various job contracts, and Tech was a little surprised papers of such importance were being kept out in the open. She had to be quite confident nobody would break into her office for them.
"Gimme those, Goggles," Cid addressed him, and he glanced up from his reading to the Trandoshan. She held out her clawed yellowy-green hand towards him, motioning for him to hand the papers over. He complied, and she snatched them away before shoving them into one of her desk drawers. Tech's attention briefly was drawn to the caged lizard, who was slamming itself against walls of the container in a weak attempt to escape. Cid however didn't seem worried.
