Battles and Preparations

"I'm not sure, either, sir. We were training together when he suddenly got angry and just started going all out against me," he huffed as I set him on the floor to lay down.

"Please be careful, sir. Don't get hurt." Even though he had his brother to worry about, he was still concerned for my safety.

"I'll be fine," I smiled as I stood up and turned to the berserk Cyrus.

"Cyrus," I said, "don't make me do this." I didn't even bother trying to fight. I stabbed my sword in the ground, cracks webbing out from the sheer force.

He growled at me, keeping his distance and not advancing right away. He was still wary of me, even while he was going berserk.

Zalam. I know you can hear me. Tell me what the hell is going on here.

...

...

His... Kuro.

What?

His soul, Kuro. It's his soul. There's another soul residing in his body. Cyrus is a vessel.

For who?

One of the more powerful Outer Gods interfered while I transferred you into this world. I couldn't find anything until just now.

Shit. Can you do something?

Not immediately. Hold him down for ten minutes while I try and lock the soul out.

Alright. I'll give it a shot. Also, give me the abilities to suppress Beast Wills and Communicate with mana beasts. Go all the way to Asura's.

Alright.

Woah, you didn't object.

Because I've given up. I might as well give you everything at this point.

Will you?

Hell no.

It was worth a shot.

As I broke off my connection with Zalam, I readied myself to receive Cyrus' assault as he dashed toward me.

I released a bit of mana to strengthen my body since the Twins had gotten significantly stronger since the last time I tried receiving their blows without a weapon in hand.

"Calm down," I said as I flipped him over, lacerations from his monstrous output of Wind mana appearing on my arm.

He roared in anger as he wildly swung his sword in a blind rage.

Jesus, just what the hell is in him for him to be acting so damn wild?

"Calm down, Cy. This isn't you." It was easy to kill since there wasn't a need to hold back. The big difference here is I need to suppress him.

I was running out of time and I was growing tired of trying to fight him off, so I figured I may as well just release my mana and use God's Ambition on him.

As I unlocked the restrictions, I'd set on myself, opening the other four cores, I normally kept shut when I walked around and didn't normally train.

I felt the mana flow out of my body and directed all of my intent onto Cyrus, who fell to his knees. Sweating hard but still holding his ground, I walked closer as I let out more mana.

"I told you to stand down, Cyrus Vigo." As I got closer, he'd begun prostrating himself, as if bowing down to the alpha.

I put my hand on his head as he continued, though weakly and futilely, growling.
