A/N -  Hey everyone -  long time since an update.  In the prior chapter, Brian and Deacy had met a young woman at a baby shop who advised she was a surrogate.  They got the information for her agency and intended to call to find out more.

"So I left a message for this Veronica to call me back..."  Brian explained to Roger as they drove to their destination.  Roger listened and nodded as he kept an eye on the road.

"And this young woman said she was being paid to carry the baby...but it really was the couple's actual baby?"  Roger asked to be sure he understood.  Brian nodded.

"Yes...Avery said the wife's egg was fertilized with her husband's sperm in a lab and then the fertilized egg was implanted inside of her..." he repeated.   "So it seems she is literally just the womb and the baby is not hers at all...not her egg..."  Brian clarified.

"I could see the benefit of that..."  Roger told him.  "If she isn't the natural mother then she has no rights to the child when it is born..." he surmised.

"Right..."  Brian agreed.  "I imagine that helps with things once the child is here...Avery would feel easier about giving the child to them...knowing it is really theirs..."  Brian kept his eyes on Roger.  Curious what he was pondering after hearing his telling of meeting the surrogate at the shop earlier that day.

"That is something to consider..."  Roger finally remarked.  "Having a surrogate carry for you..."  he said out loud as he thought about it.  "Of course...you have to get an egg from somewhere to use with your sperm..." he considered.

"I'm sure we could find a donor..."  Brian responded.  "There are sperm banks out there so there has to be a service where you can get you an egg..."  he determined.

"It might prove easier than waiting for adoption to be legalized..."  Roger threw out.  Brian smiled at his husband.  Happy to see how quickly he was on board with the idea.

"Right!"  Brian concurred.  "If the child is biologically ours...then it isn't adoption!"  he stated.

"I suppose Deacy was leaving a message with this Veronica as well..."  Roger mused.  Catching the knowing grin on Brian's face.

"Of course he is..."  Brian answered.  "He is eager for a baby too..."  he admitted.  Roger was compelled to remark that Brian seemed to have gone from interested to eager in quick measure.  The desire to be a father growing by the day.  He held his tongue and focused on the road.

"Let's just take this one step at a time..."  Roger finally remarked.  Erring on the side of caution as he turned into the gated cemetery.

The men got out of the sedan and each grabbed one of the large arrangements of flowers from the back seat.  They walked down the nearby row.  Roger letting Brian lead the way since he knew where to go.  The taller man stopped and looked down at a medium sized tombstone.  Roger noted the name of MAY engraved in large letters in the marble.

"Hi Dad..."  Brian greeted as he glanced at Roger and then looked down at the gravesite.  "I know I've not been by in a while..."  he explained as he squatted down and began removing the dead flowers from the vases attached to his plot.   "A lot has happened in my life...all of it good really..." he told his father.  Clearing the vases and placing fresh arranged flowers inside one of them.   "The best thing is I met someone...and I fell in love..." he expounded as Roger stood and listened.  Feeling a touch odd at the one sided conversation Brian was having.

"I actually got married..."  Brian told his father and turned and glanced up at Roger with a small smile.  "I know you might not approve of who I married...but I love him and he makes happy in a way no one else ever has..." he defended.  Roger smiled and squatted down next to him.  Offering some help with the flowers.  Getting a smile of approval from Brian in return.
