- ...You wouldn't DARE to do that!!!
She laughed evily.
- Try.

This time, it was Hailey's turn to freak out. She started yelling at Zoey and getting the attention of those around them. Mainly from the music club members and Daisy.

- For real, what is wrong with you?! Why do you have to be so mean?! As if it wasn't enough to try to get Jake out of the club just because you were cheating on your boyfriend and he justifiably threatened you, you still want to get me out of the talent show just for you to keep being popular! Oh, spare me, huh?! I don't have to give up a chance that could make me a better person just because your ego's getting bruised!!!

As she insulted Zoey, Jake heard the shouting and went to see what was going on. Well, he heard everything. And the others, half of it.

But what was heard by anyone was enough to understand that Hailey had been threatened or pressured.

- Aaah, so you're playing the heroin now?! I'm craving to see if you're still gonna think of yourself as a badass when everyone finds out that-

- Ok, that's enough, girls!!! What the hell is going on?! - Jake got in between the girls and stopped the fight.

- This pirated Barbie just threatened me about quitting the talent show for her to stay popular!! Oh, have holy patience!

- And you think I'm obligated to lower myself to her level if she wins this singing thing again?!

- STOP!!

He paused for a moment.

- Seriously, Zoey. Wasn't trying to get me out of the club enough? You really want to fuck up my life, don't you? Whether you're going to be popular or not doesn't depend on Hailey. She didn't do you anything wrong.
- Oh, so you're gonna defend your freak singer girlfriend? So cute! Why won't you marry her and take her to America's Got Talent? At least I won't have to face her.
- Stop calling me a freak!!!
- I stop whenever I want. Plus, I can't hide the truth, freak.

Angry tears began to form in Hailey's eyes.

- You... - and she almost went for her when the principal arrived.

- Hailey and Zoey!! - Silence was made right away. - You two, in my office. C'mon!

The blonde girl was furious, and she fought hard not to push Hailey and embarrass her a little more before getting scolded by principal Parker.
Hailey, on the other hand, was about to cry. She cast one last guilty look at Jake, who briefly took her hand before she went and squeezed it tight.

Lunchtime was over, and it was the locker period of the next class. Jake found a way to catch up to Hailey before the bell rang. She was getting her things out of the locker.
He approached to her, visibly worried, and asked softly:

- Are you okay...?

She actually got a bit scared and embarrassed by his concern over her.

- ...Well, not really. Me and Zoey got suspended. Two more times for me and I'm getting expelled. Zoey just needs one more.

The boy's eyes widened, if the suspension was his fault.
He was going to open his mouth, but the bell ruined his chance to talk.

- I gotta go. Our parents are coming to pick us up. - She sighed. - Honestly, I don't even know how I'll explain what happened to them...

Jake looked down, still feeling guilty. Before Hailey left, he hugged her for a few seconds and said:

- You'll figure it out, Hailey, I'm sure you will.

That made the girl smile; but not blushing this time. At the moment, what she needed the most was a friend's shoulder.

But unfortunely, she had to leave.

Those steps to the principal's office were even more intense.

[Thursday, September 29th]

Hailey and Zoey were finally able to go back to school. They got 3 days and a half (since they left school earlier) of suspension, but as there was Saturday and Sunday, they eventually ended up being 5.

Everything felt weirder; everyone looked at them, as if that fight had been the buzz of the year. Except for the fact people barely knew what actually happened.

They took one last look at each other and Hailey ran off to the music club gang.

- Guuuyss~ Guess who is finally back??

Jake, Milly and Luke were surprised by the news, so much so that they congratulated her and hugged her collectively. Zander was being forced to go to school anyway, so he wasn't surprised.

- How did you tell your parents about... Getting into that fight? (Jake)

- Well...

*Flashback*

(Michael): So, Hailey, aren't you gonna tell us why did that girl start a fight with you?
(Hailey): Nah, she's just a jerk. She wanted me to quit the talent show so I wouldn't steal her popularity.
(Shannon): No way! What a psycho!
(Hailey): Haha, yeah... She's such a spoiled brat.
(Shannon): *Sighs* Look, she might be a spoiled brat, but the way you acted wasn't good, either. You should've listened to her. But, here we are; picking you up at school from a suspension just because someone teased you.
(Michael): Your mother is right, Hailey. The mistakes of others do not justify yours. There was no need to yell those things at her, after all, it only made the problem worse for both of you. That's why your mom and I are gonna leave you without your cellphone until you get back to school.
(Hailey): Wait, are you grounding me? Is suspension not punishment enough?
(Shannon): Hailey, don't make things worse, for our sake, please.
(Bethany): Yes, Hailey! Stay quiet!
(Hailey): *Chuckles* Shut up.
(Shannon): Also, why would this Zoey pick on you? Did she have any ulterior motives or something?
(Hailey): Uuuhhh... She... Hates me. Really hates me.
(Bethany): Oh, I hate this girl too, now. Who would even hate my precious sister Hailey?
(Hailey): Thank you, Bethy.

- ...So you lied to our parents? - Zander crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow, not being too serious.

- ...Sort of. Not quite lying, I only told half the story. Zoey really hates me, even more than Milly, at this point in the game. What I said was believable, in short.

- Ah-ah-ah! Zoey's hatred over me is invencible. You are very wrong, baby doll. - Milly joked.

The five friends laughed.

But something still bothered Hailey. And like it never did.

{The talent show is tomorrow and I haven't planned nearly anything?! What am I gonna do?? Should I quit or should I risk people knowing how stupid I am for liking Jake after everything?? Oh Lord, what do I do?}
