Chapter 13 - Pressure and discoveries

- Hailey, whatever is gonna happen today, we can power through it. I know you can overcome this stage fright and live your best life. So, don't chicken out and give these students the best performance ever! - Jake comforted, joking a little at the end.

While he talked, he put his hands on her shoulder, which made Hailey blush.

She returned the advice with a smile and a soft "thanks".

Everyone gathered on the table smirked. Well, Zander did make a weird anger noise, but he was happy that Jake was becoming a better person for real.

It was now time to set everything up. The music club was looking awesome!

Everyone was beautifully dressed, and they weren't even wearing fancy and exaggerated clothes!

Well, everyone was very nervous. You can tell by Hailey herself:

- GUYS, I THINK I'M GONNA PASS OUT---
- OH, DON'T YOU DARE TO DO THAT AGAIN!!! - Zander yelled, as he sweated in nervousness.

- Relax, Hailey. We're all here with you. We've been through this before. You can do it.
- We've been through a competition in a theather place before, not a talent show in our school! Plus, I have been here before, and I can tell this is a mental torture to me, Jake. So, sorry, nothing is calming me down now.

Jake sighed.
- Can you at least try?
She looked at him for a few seconds, thinking of a response.
But as soon as she opened her mouth, the principal announced:

- Alright everyone, it is now time to begin out 2021's talent show!! Who's excited??

The whole crowd of students cheered and applauded.
But Hailey could only hear the unbearable pitch noise forming in her head, as the excited screams of students became louder second by second.

That was a truly nightmare.

At least, out of all the 25 presentations of the afternoon, the club was the 21th; not many people wanted to participate.

There were many types of presentations, such as dancing, acting, playing an instrument, drawing... And there were 2 people who sang too; they were amazing. Not to mention an epic dance presentation by 5 freshman girls.

Time flew by, and it was almost on their turn. It was the 20th presentation.
The club already went to the backstage to get their instruments and preparing them to take them to the stage.

Hailey sat down, as everyone was doing their stuff. Unfortunely, no one was focusing on her.
Until someone knocked the door. And the person already walked in!
I guess you can already tell who it was by their manners.

- Hey, uhm... Can I talk to Hailey for a second?

Zoey.

The club president got up from her chair and walked nervously towards the door.

As it closed, she heard something very unexpected.

- Look, I just wanted to apologize for last week. I should't have threatened you. That wasn't nice of me. Y-you might not want to forgive me, but, I think I should tell you this anyway.

The girl blinked a couple of times, processing what she just had heard. After it hit, she spoke.

- Well, I-if you're really sorry, then... I guess I should forgive you. I mean, what could you do to me at this point?
