Chapter 13 - Pressure and discoveries

Zoey smiled.

- Thank you.

- Music club, it's your turn! Come to the staaageee!!! - The principal announced on the microphone.

Hailey's heart began to beat faster than circus drums. She started to sweat and I could barely react.

- Go, girl. It's your cue.

Hailey smiled at Zoey for seemingly the first time since they'd met.

She dashed off and went to the stage, along with her friends.

As everyone went to their places, Jake took a deep breath, and so did Hailey. But that didn't calm her down, so he grabbed her hand, just like he did in the competition.
That made her feel better once, it would work twice.

The music started to play, and Jake began to sing.

Hailey sighed again, and created courage to sing at her cue.

The performance got interrupted by an audio being played and show on the projector.

"...If you're so desperate for popularity, open an Instagram account. People love girls who look pretty but are actually self-centered b1tches. Now, if you excuse me, I need to get back to the music room."

"Alright, go to your little music room! Meanwhile, I'm just gonna spread the word to everyone that you're a psycho freak who has headaches because her crush bullied her and likes someone else!"

The audience gasped in unison and they all stared at Hailey and Jake.

The club president girl froze immediately and couldn't say anything. Everything she demonstrated was fear and embarrassement.

The lead singer boy, on the other hand, was completely shocked and worried.

- Hailey... Is that true...?

Hailey was so stressed that the words just got stuck on her throat, and her heart was about to explode. Her only response was a dramatic, tearful escape from the stage to go outside the school.

- Hailey!! Wait, come back!!!

The music club didn't understand anything, but they were all completely worried..

But they also couldn't react, since Jake already ran after her as fast as he could.

I'm terribly sorry for making you wait, but I had an exam week recently, and when it ended, I wanted to rest from writing a bit. Yesterday, my friends came over and I've also found out my parents are going through a serious financial problem, so it's just been very hard to find a time to write lately.
It is literally 3am now. I need to sleep SO BAD.
