part twenty eight

Start from the beginning

Louis reached out for the bell. It was damp, cold, and the sound vibrated through his body making it tremble with anxiety and foreboding.

His heart sank as he heard the lock open from the other side and the door handle move to reveal the only person he wanted to see.

Divs stood there with her eyes wide and her shoulders shivering from the sudden cold.

Louis met her eyes and saw the pain in them, it made his heart sink lower and lower, low enough that it would start to quiver and break. He wasn't planning on staying strong, he just wanted to see Divs and tell her he was sorry. To tell her that she was the most important thing in the world to him. But no words could bring back what he was guilty of.

"What are you doing here." She said stubbornly, staring back into his eyes with as much anger as Louis had guilt in his own.

"I'm so sorry." He said looking back at her shielded eyes, he felt a glimmer of softness in them as he let out these two words, but it soon regained their strong gruesome glare.

Divs didn't say anything, instead she began to close the door until Louis threw his umbrella onto the pooling wet road and stopped the door with his hand.

"Divs please don't." He begged, his hand strongly placed on the wooden door cutting through his skin and his eyes gazing back at her. "I can't do this anymore."

She held tightly onto the handle but didn't attempt to close it. Louis was much closer to her, looking down at her delicate yet sharp face with his breath falling into her lips.

"Please don't do this Divs." He mumbled as a tear streamed down his pale face. He saw her lips quiver yet the look in her eyes didn't go away, it nested there, still, in her eyes. Her jaw clenched as she tried not to cry, she felt Louis's forehead touch her own and the two of them closed their eyes. No lips touched. Only the sensation of his forehead resting tightly against hers.

Just the contact of their bare skin made them feel a sort of tranquility nothing else could, the sound of their breaths gave each other a sort of comfort they wouldn't get from anywhere else. They were made for on another.

"Divs I love you. I've loved you since I went on that rooftop date with you. And I'll always love you. Please." His voice cracked and his tear fell on her cheek.

Divya couldn't contain it either, she sobbed silently as a continuous stream fell down her soft tan skin, washing away.

"This was all a mistake. I don't like her anymore. I like you. I love you." He sobbed with her. Divya left the door handle and cried, Louis removed his hand from the edge of the door and placed it on her back. He pulled her closer towards him and cried with his forehead against hers and both of their eyes closed.

"I can't imagine my life without you. You make me happy. You make me so so happy- Divs..." Louis's voice continued to crack and saying this to her was harder as he heard her low sulks.

"I love you too. I love you so much." She whimpered."But I can't be the girl you chose second." She breathed and opened her eyes.

The thunder struck again. She pulled back, parting their foreheads and the hand he had on her back. Divya glanced Louis one last look until she closed the door and he was unable to stop it.

He felt his heart crumble and the cracks go deeper, he felt himself loose balance and find it difficult to breath. The cold blue and the strengthened wind blew past him rapidly and he had nothing more left to do.

He pressed his hands on the cold wood of the door, his face forcing itself into it as he forced all his guilt onto the sinless wood. All he wanted to do was to break it open and engulf her into his arms, to kiss her lips and to tell her he'd never let her go.

"Divs." He whispered with a shaky voice. "Divs if your still there." He said sobbing with the tears still falling from the pool beneath his eyes. "Your not my second choice."

"You were never my second choice. You were my first right choice."

He said through the door. Whimpering. Breaking apart. He was sure she hadn't heard it, he was sure she was gone and there was no getting her back.

Louis turned around and gazed down at his umbrella that lay shuddering in the deep puddle of water, the item looked dejected and sorrowful, something that no longer had purpose.

He wanted to pick it up, but it no longer had worth. It was broken from the weather, useless from the wind.

Louis shivered as he looked up at the sky and the thunder struck once again.

It was until only moments later when he felt his heart jolt upright. He heard the door open behind him and he turned around swiftly.

There she stood, her eyes red from crying and her lips dry from cold.

"Am I? Am I your first right choice Louis?" She said biting her lip, in a hopeful tone, expecting an answer.

"Yes. Yes! Your my first right choice Divs. Your the right choice." Louis yelled and Divs ran into his arms.

He held her close to him tightly as she kept her arms around his neck, both of them pulling each other closer with no room for the icy wind.

The warmth of the other was enough to rid them of the chill of this threatening weather, and enough to bring a smile to their faces.

"I love you so much. I never want to loose you again." He mumbled between her hair and in between the kisses he placed on her head.

"I never want to let you go." She muttered and the two of them pulled apart to press their lips together in an enchanting kiss.

It felt like a gift basket, so wholesome, so special. Something you had been waiting for, something that didn't have one, but many feelings that came with it. And they were all happy feelings.

"You're wet." Divs giggled in between their kiss.

"That's how you make me feel." Louis smiled and Divs rolled her eyes.

"Let's get you inside." She held onto his hand and pulled him inside and out from the rainy weather.

The two of them were together.

They were with the person they loved most.
