The Wasps are all Around Us (Steve Harrington x Reader)

When the groups arrived at the school, they split up once again in order to divide and conquer.

Y/N and Steve had been grouped together with El to make something to cover El's eyes and to prepare the girl.

The entire party had decided that Y/N was best for this job because she knew what the upside down was like, not to mention the fact that El quickly became attached to and comforted by her.

"This will keep it dark for you,"  Y/N said as she covered science safety goggles in black tape.

Y/N sat facing El, and Steve knelt on the floor next to Y/N.

"You're really brave," Steve said, trying to comfort El, who looked very scared.

"Everything you're doing for my brother, for my family, I just . . . I just can't thank you enough," Y/N paused, and took El's hands in hers, "Listen . . . sweetheart, I know what it's like, in that place — in the Upside Down — and I knows how scary it is. But, I . . . we will be there the entire time, and if ever anything gets too scary, just tell me. I'll get you out. Okay?"

"Yes," El whispered in response.

"You ready, kiddo?" Steve asked.

El took a deep, rattled breath and squeezed Y/N's hand before answering, "Ready."

When the trio entered the gymnasium, the rest of the party had already finished setting up. The pool sat in the middle and there was a small cart with towels and a walkie talkie on it.

"Are you sure you boys set it up right? " Y/N asked Mike, Dustin, and Lucas.

"YES, MOM!" they exclaimed in unison, slightly embarrassed by her constant worry for them.

"Alright," she responded.

Then she held El's hand and helped her step into the pool, everyone had found a spot in the circle around the pool and were watching El intently as she laid down on the water's surface.

The light flicked and went out.

El b started to whisper things. Things like, "Barb" and "Gone!". She began to scream the word over and over, "GONE! GONE! GONE!".

Steve saw Y/N flinching at the screams, as if they caused pain, but he was the only one to notice.

"It's okay, it's okay. We're right here, sweetie. Don't be afraid. I'm right here with you," Y/N said to the scared girl, holding her arm and hand in an attempt to comfort her.

"Castle Byers," El muttered.

Jonathan looked up and met his sister's eyes from across the pool, there were a few tears rolling down her face and she looked like a worried mother. This look had been pretty much the only look he had seen in is sister's face since Will went missing.

"Will?" El asked.

The breath caught in everyones throat, and more tears ran down Y/N's face. Steve put his arm around her shoulders, trying to bring her some comfort.

"Tell him we're coming. Jonathan, mom, and I, tell him we're coming," Y/N said, shaking.

"Your mom, and siblings, their coming for you," El said.

A weak voice came from the walkie talkie, "Hurry."

It was like the world stop spinning. Everyone froze, looking around the room in awe, and something that hadn't been felt for a while, hope. Some people cried, some people smiled.

"Tell him to stay where he is!" Hopper said.

"We're coming!" Joyce finished.

The next thing they heard, El started screaming, and crying. She shot up, taking of the goggles and going to Y/N, Who immediately hugged her and rubbed her back while whispering comforting things to her.

Y/N pressed a kiss to El's forehead. Everyone was quiet, each sorting through their thoughts.
