The Unsolved(Sundrop/Moondrop x reader)

The crowd of children cheer as a large platform rises above the stage, four large silhouettes positioned on it, covered by smoke. The fog eventually clears away, and I catch view of four animatronics, a bear, wolf, gator, and what I can only assume is a chicken, each with their own musical instrument. 

The animatronics start playing a very 90s song and I look over at Vanessa. Something felt off and different as I remembered some small details from my old job. "Didn't there use to be a rabbit, and that weird pirate fox...?" I questioned, not even so sure myself. 

Vanessa nods. "We used to have a rabbit one here too, but we had to decommission him a while ago and he got replaced with Monty. The pirate got replaced too, corporate thought we needed another female animatronic for some reason and replaced him with Roxy." She explains, still fixated on the performance going on on the stage. 

The part about the rabbit animatronic strikes my interest. "Why'd you have to decommission him? The rabbit one?"

She looks at me weirdly. "Heck if I know, malfunctioned or something and couldn't be fixed, or so I'm told." 

She looks away again and I'm left with the feeling that judging by her demeanor she seems to know more about that situation then she's letting on. I mean there must have been a really good reason if they had to deactivate it, and I find it highly unlikely that they couldn't fix it with all the fancy and advanced technology that this company seems to possess.

She seems sort of nervous, and glances over at me occasionally during the performance, as if worried I'll suspect something. Her personality is so weird and off, confident and snarky at times and now all of a sudden skittish and nervous? I'm just not buying it, there's definitely something going on with this girl, but then again, I could just be being paranoid and overcautious. I mean it is a part of my job I suppose. 

The song finally ends with the band taking a bow and their platform returning to wherever it came from. Vanessa shares a nervous smile with me, "So! I suppose you should meet the gang then since you'll practically be working with them a lot." 

She walks off without waiting for me and I groan. Does this girl ever walk slowly? But seriously, she walked so fast that I could barely keep up with her through the massive crowd of people but luckily, I caught up with her at a small backway entrance behind the stage. I look it over, "So what's this?" I ask, gesturing at the whole setup, an empty room with a large red button on a pedestal in the middle. She smiles and walks over to the pedestal and opens the case that the button is encased in, pressing it. I jolt and lose my balance as the floor suddenly begins to move downwards, apparently, we'd been standing on an elevated platform.

 We reach the bottom and I can hear multiple voices chatting up ahead. It's a large dressing room, decorated with lit up mirrors and comfy looking sofas, and towards the end of the room, the animatronics were huddled together and...talking? They all froze as me and Vanessa approached, staring at us with curiosity. The bear, who appeared to be the lead singer in the band, spoke first, "Who is this Vanessa?" His voice was robotic but surprisingly smooth and well versed, almost like a human's. 

I looked up at him in slight shock. I never knew that they had programmed these things to talk now, as far as I was aware, they couldn't do that when I worked at the old Pizzaria. 

Venessa pulls me closer and smiles over at the animatronics, "This is River, they're our new security guard here but will most likely being doing other odd jobs around here such as working with you guys so I thought I'd introduce them." 

I just wave nervously at the 8ft tall robots, they were intimidating and practically loomed over me. They all waved back at me and greeted me excitedly. Next thing I knew they were practically surrounding me, asking me so many questions from if my eyes were actually grey to what my favorite song was.  I looked over to Vanessa with a pleading look to come rescue me, overwhelmed by the fact that I was being interrogated and not only that but by SENTIENT ROBOTS! Who knew the world had advanced to such a thing already? I certainly had never been aware, but then again, I did distance myself from the outside world quite a lot unless my job required for me to do it. Vanessa giggled, "Ok guys, I think you should give poor River a break. It is their first day after all, plus I'm sure you'll see them much more in the future. So save your questions for later, okay?" 

Vanessa pulled me out of their circle and I sighed in relief. They for some reason seemed sad to see me go but waved goodbye nonetheless and went back to chatting about who knows what. Me and Vanessa began the tour again, with her seemingly in a better and less anxious mood than ten minuets ago.

"Sorry about that, they don't meet many new staff members often and get overexcited when new ones do arrive." She informed me, laughing.

I smiled tiredly, already drained from all of the interactions I was having today "It's ok, I guess I just wasn't expecting them to be so...?"

"Sentient and human like?" She finishes, making eye contact with me.

I nod. She gives an understanding smile. "It's quite a revelation really, the company thought that by making them more sentient that they'd work better with the kids. Turns out they were right." She says, "matter-of-factly" and shrugs. 

By this point, we were starting to descend a small staircase, painted to look like a daisy meadow, leading up to two large, wooden doors with large brass handles. 

"Unfortunately, the next animatronic that we're going to visit will be a lot worse. Let's just say they're...very energetic and um I guess you could say...outgoing?"

 She warned, before pushing the doors wide open into a large room containing a very brightly colored jungle gym and loud, playful music.

Ay another part, I'm sorry if this one seems rushed, I was just kinda losing inspo for this part but hopefully it'll get more interesting soon. Next up, our first meeting with Sundrop!
