When Jimin walked onto the back porch where Jungkook sat, he had to keep himself still. They'd gotten home from the hospital at dawn, and he'd slept the day away, as per doctor's instruction. Even in the dim backyard lighting, the colours that spanned her face forced Jungkook to remain calm.

He doubted a snarling alpha would make the omega feel good. After what he'd been through, he needed a calm environment. He needed the alpha to be steady. He needed to hide his reaction to the omega, to the bruises, to the situation.

Jimin hesitated a few feet away. "Should I go?"

"No, why?"

"You're growling."

Jungkook cut off the rumble from his chest he hadn't even noticed. "Sorry," he said. "Thought I'd be better at hiding that."

She still didn't come forward, a large shirt bagging over him, showing off his legs from beneath hem. It was Namjoon's shirt and somehow he looked right in it, as if a little part of them wrapped around him.

Jungkook lifted his gaze to Jimin's face, to the uncertainty there. "Come on omega, come sit down." Jungkook patted the spot beside him.

Jimin came forward and all but fell onto the bench, a small slice of space between them. "No one's yelled at me yet."

Jimin drew his legs up, wrapping his arms around them1. It made him take up less space, made him seem even smaller. "It seems like..." he rested him chin on his knees when he didn't go on.

"Seems like what?"

"Like maybe you don't care."

Jimin really thought that? Jungkook released a soft huff then dragged a light finger against the bruising on his cheek. "We care, but I think you've been beat up on enough for now. We aren't in the habit of being too hard on someone already hurting."

Jimin leaned into the touch, eyes sliding closed.

Jungkook gave up on being careful, on treating him like a fragile trinket. He'd taken on an alpha. He was tougher than he looked. he slung an arm around Jimin and tugged him into his lap so he straddled him and tugged the omega closer. Jimin did as he'd done when Jungkook found him, pressed his nose against his throat and filled his lungs.

Jungkook didn't purr much, didn't normally offer it, but he did just for Jimin. The rumble, softer and deeper than a growl, slid between them as his way of easing the omega. Jimin

flattened his hands against the alpha's chest as he nuzzled his throat.

Finally, Jimin sat up, back straight, gaze down. He did try to move from Jungkook's lap. "Thanks for saving m, but I'm sorry you had to... you know..."

Jimin really thought ending someone like that bother him? hell, he was glad to have rid the world of that asshole. Jungkook had a lot of hang-ups but killing people who needed killing wasn't among them. After seeing that terrified young daughter, he was only too happy to remove their personal monster from their lives.

Neither of them should have to sleep a single night worried he'd come after them, that the piece-of-shit alpha might find them. If he could give them that little bit of peace? Worth anything he had to pay.

Jungkook caught Jimin's chin and lifted his face so he looked him in the eye. "Trust me, ending him doesn't weigh on me. Besides, you'd done enough damage on your own. You put Hoseok's knife to good use."

Jimin nodded toward the bandage around his palm. "What happened?"

"Like I said, you're dangerous with that knife."
