3 months later
Kalechi
Its been 3 months since my mother dead and it has hit me harder than I thought it would. I had moved my dad here. We closed the farm back home and sold everything and got him a nice plot of land here and he now has a farm here and stays in a small house that we built for him. I have been so into my duties as Queen and the love of my people have been amazing. Things with Smanga and I were not that good nor were they bad but we were living. He has cleared things with the government and now helps them with high profile gangsters using his under ground connections.
Luyanda walked in smiling. Iv noticed that she and Segun have been very close.
Luyanda: Your 2 pm is here
Me: Okay put them in the library am coming
Luyanda: are you good?
She looked at me with concern.
Me: Yeah just need a few minutes to myself. She nodded and left. I sat there breathing and having a bit of water.
Smanga: You okay?
I turned to see him by the door and smiled. We maybe at odds sometimes but he still makes me feel all upside down inside.
Me: Just having hot flushes
Smanga: iv noticed you haven't been eating much these days
Me: Am not that hungry
He looked at me than walked in and kneeled in front of me.
Smanga: You know am always here for you
Me: I know
Smanga: And you can talk to me about anything
Me: I know babe. Ill eat something and feel better. Can you get Mavis to make me a fruit salad?
He got up kissed my forehead.
Smanga: Sure. He left me as I got up and slowly walked to my meeting with the investors.

The last couple of months have been hard with Kalechi losing her mother and us trying to grieve and moving her father here. But here we are still strong. Sometimes its like she blames me for everything that Philipe did and sometimes its like she doesn't. I have moments that I feel like she hates me but than again She looks at me as if am everything. Luyanda came in running in the kitchen with panic all over face.
Me: What is it?
Luyanda: The Queen.
I ran with her to the library and there she was on the floor covered in so much blood with eyes closed. I picked her up and ran to the car with Sbo going to the drivers side. We drove to the hospital and had they whisked her away without any explanations as I stood there wishing and praying that she is okay. After sometime the family arrived and still I haven't heard anything.
Dad: she going to be okay son
Kalechi father: Just stay strong.
In all my life iv never shed a tear but right now the fear I had in my heart was to much.
The door opened and the doctor came out looking exhausted. I rushed to him.
Me: how is she?
Doctor: Stable for now. She is resting
Me: what happened?
The doctor looked at me and the family.
Doctor: Were you aware of your wife pregnancy?
Me: She pregnant?
Doctor: am sorry to say this but you lost one of the babies?
Me: am confused?
Doctor: She had twins. Two of her eggs were fertilised but unfortunately one of them was suck in her tubes and it raptured leading to a miscarriage
Me: And the other one?
Doctor: Is safely fertilised for now and shows no signs of rapture so we waiting for the bleeding to stop than we can check if everything is still okay. But right now she hooked to a machine that monitors the child heart beat and vitals. She looks stronger right now
Me: What happens now?
Doctor: We have cleaned put the other pregnancy. It was easy since it was an egg of its own clean was easier and resulted in us not harming the child and mother.
Me: What now?
Doctor: Now you get something to eat and You can see your wife afterwards. But so far everything is on a positive side
Me: Thank you
Doctor: Congratulations on the pregnancy
Me: Thank you.
I wiped the tears in my eyes and my mom smiled with Kalechi father.
Me: Let me go see her
Mom: She is okay son that all that matters.
Kalechi
I woke up to beeping sound and a sound of a strong heartbeat and I found Smanga head next to my bed. A nurse walked in and I raised my hand for her to be quiet and she smiled.
She whispered: Feeling better my Queen?
Me: Yeah and how are you
She smiled.
Nurse: Its my job to ask you that not the other way around. Smanga moved and looked at me.
Smanga:Hey
Me: Hi
Nurse: I can bring in a couch my lord
Smanga: Its okay.
She bowed and left and he looked at the machines and looked at me.
Smanga: You never told me we pregnant
Me: I didn't know
He nodded and I saw his not okay.
Me: What is it
Smanga: it was twins
Me: Was?
Smanga: We lost one of them
I kept quiet for a while and looked at the screen that was giving out steady heart beats
Me: Is this him?
Smanga: Yes. Its her
Me: Her?
Smanga: A girl would be nice
I smiled and looked at him.
Me: A boy would be nice too.
Smanga: We shall see when the time is right.
Me: Am sorry about the lost one.
Smanga: Let focus on getting better and getting you two out of here okay
I saw the pain on his eyes and I knew the lost of this child affected him more than he was going to show.
Me: I love you
I saw a tear escape his eye and I placed his head on my chest cuddling him as he let his tears go.
In all my life iv heard a lot of times that man dont cry, that man are suppose to be strong and hide they fears and pain. I knew he was scared of losing me. I knew that the pain was too much for him yet he was being strong for me. I knew he blamed himself for not paying attention maybe we could have saved both kids. But we have one now its better than nothing. I hugged him and kissed his head.
Me: We going to be okay
Smanga: I thought i was going to lose you
Me: Am not going anywhere...
