She wore an all-black attire with a short-fitted black leather jacket with dark blue T-shirt underneath, and a black skirt and tight black leggings that highlighted her figure.
My immediate thought was that I was looking at the closest thing to the goddess of midnight, Nyx. She looked exactly the little Julie I had seen in the photo albums in the past. An exact replica!
The wait had been worth it!
I had been staring at her in awe for so long that I didn't even realise that she had walked in-front of me. "How long are you going to keep staring?" She said with a smirk. I guess she was satisfied with my reaction.
"I couldn't help it! I was mesmerised for a moment." A blush crept up on her face at my words.
"Ready?" Jasmine spoke up. We nodded and started walking downtown towards the Adventure's Guild Hall.
"Did you plan this?" I asked her in suspicion. I was already aware of the hair dye she was going to use, but not the colour of her eyes.
"Believe me, I was just a surprised as you were when I opened the box that contained my contact lenes. Looks like its fates doing," she giggled. I sighed and shook my head at the coincidence.
"Are you sure the hair dye has settled in properly." I asked.
"Don't worry, I used wind magic to speed up the process," she replied with a toothy white grin.
(Amber Helstea POV)
The Guild Hall was not what I had expected it to be. A vivid image of a place filled with thugs seated around wooden tables downing beer was what I envisioned. Instead, it was a building filled with prestige and luxury. A marble structure towered over us like a sacred museum. Once inside, it was clear the amount of work that had been put into the intricately designed interior. There were tables made from metal where I could see other adventurers giving us a passing glance. The whole place had an ambience of extravagance that didn't suit me, much less some of the barbarian-looking adventurers here, but I simply continued my stride.
"Welcome! How may I help the three of you?" The female receptionist said; her rehearsed smile gleamed a pearly white.
Jasmine went forward and took the lead, showing them her adventures badge. "I would like to sponsor these two from a rank examination." Her face remained stoic and expressionless. The receptionist stood there in shock for a few moments before answering and leading us somewhere.
"Are rank examinations rare Jasmine?" I asked. "She was shocked for a moment."
"It's fairly uncommon. Only adventurers with a B-Class or higher can sponsor someone. And that's only if they want to." Her reply was short and straight to the point.
"Oi, look. There's someone taking a rank examination."
"It's just two girls and a masked midget though."
"Look at those lucky bastards, showing off their bonds." Comments like these could be heard from all around the hall. I was seriously thinking about showing the difference in strength between them and us, but Arthur subtly held my hand to calm me down and keep me from going anywhere.
We arrived in the office, which was minimally decorated with two leather couches positioned to face each other. On the far end of the room was a dark, wooden desk facing the door; a slender man was seated behind the pile of neatly-stacked papers, jotting down something with a quilted pen.
Roused by the sound of his office door being opened, the man looked up to reveal a sharp and angular face. The head of black hair I had been staring at was parted down the centre and reached just past his thin neck. Behind his rimless and thick glasses were a pair of sharp eyes that regarded us intently.
