"Y'all have ten minutes to get your asses in the car," Dylan yells from the bottom of the stairs.Today we are embarking on the 20 hour road trip to Julianna's gender reveal. I wanted to take a plane but Dylan was all like "come on, bonding".
I also insisted we take two cars, he shot that down as well. What did he do. He went out and RENTED A 15 SEATER VAN. This man has lost his mind.
So Dylan, Junior, Marcus, Madeline, PRESTON, Emily, and I are all going together. Oh, and Logan is flying in. Apparently, there was no way he was going to miss this. His words.
It hasn't gotten lost on me that it seems like I have forgiven Julianna at the drop of a hat. I haven't. It's just there's no way in hell I could let her go through this alone. I mean she's seventeen and having a baby. It wasn't going to hurt me to be there for her.
I climb in the van and go to the back and claim the whole row as mine. Spreading my blankets and pillows. As well as my books that I will never even touch. Yet, I conceive myself I need to bring multiple.
As soon as I put my AirPods in my Spotify has pulled up ms. Jackson by Outkast and I'm hyped. That song always gets me riled up. Maybe this drive wouldn't be so bad after all. Not if my playlist stays like this.
That is until we don't even make it out of the driveway when I hear the most God awful sound. I can't tell what it is at first, until I take out my AirPods. Dylan has made the liberty of putting on a Disney playlist. Starting off with frozen.
Don't get me wrong, I love Disney music. Well, most Disney music. Some of it is so obnoxious and some is so cringe. Dylan's singing shows the three cups of coffee he drank this morning.
I put my music back on and lay down. You'd think by the fact that it was 3:43 in the morning that I would be able to sleep. Yeah, not even a little bit. I'm so not able to sleep, it's not even funny. So, I just close my eyes and embrace the long drive.
I wake up when I realize the van is no longer moving. In fact, no one is even in the van. Masking the initial shock that they actually left me in here, I search for my shoes. What is it with road trips that make your shoes just disappear. When I finally find my shoes, I get out of the van - tripping a few times. I walk in the restaurant and when I spot my family, I march over to them.
"Hey Skye, where have you been," Junior asks.
"Excuse you,"
"What?" He looks genuinely confused.
"You left me in the van,"
"Not on purpose,"
I don't respond and sit next to Preston. Who so far is the only person to not cause problems. I don't know what Emily did but it was probably something. Madeline didn't do anything but I was keeping a close eye on her. WELL TECHNICALLY THEY ALL FORGOT ME IN THE VAN.
"Here, have a pancake," he says handing me his fork.
"No, thank you, I'm not hungry,"
"You have to eat,"
"I said I'm not hungry,"
"It's not an option," he whispers in my ear.
"And why the hell not," I whisper back.
"Because I will not let you fall back to your old ways, either eat it or I will feed it to you,"
