Sunghoon’s first trimester was absolute hell. According to the doctor and the ultrasound, Sunghoon had to have gotten pregnant no more than a week before Heeseung’s rut. This meant he wasn’t even a month pregnant when he found out, and mostly without any symptoms. However, it seemed like now his body was catching up with the facts, and suddenly he was waking up nauseous every day.

The first time it happened, Heeseung had been kicked out of the bed as a result of Sunghoon’s frantic movements to get to the bathroom as fast as possible. With his appearance only, Sunghoon was sure he had deterred both Sunoo and Jungwon from wanting a kid any time soon. Thought that was probably reinforced by the number of times Sunghoon had to rush to the bathroom right after eating, or smelling, some of the food.

That had not been all, unfortunately for Sunghoon. Together with the nausea and vomiting came a constant state of weariness. It felt unfair, honestly, he could have done nothing throughout the day and he’d still be craving sleep. Then, once he was finally allowed to, he wouldn’t be able to close his eyes. Practice, because of this, had become quite the challenge. Some days he’d be fine, he’d be able to follow the normal rhythm of it. Some other days, however, he could barely get to the practice room. And this was just the first trimester, he didn’t know how he’d cope later on.

As best as he could, Heeseung tried to help him. Whenever he saw that Sunghoon was too tired or looked kind of dizzy, he’d be right by his side to help him either get to a chair to rest or to the nearest toilet. Everyone, really, tried their best to help Sunghoon out, even some members from other groups if they happened to be around.

At the seventh week of his pregnancy, they got to hear the baby’s heartbeat. Unsurprisingly, Heeseung cried harder than Sunghoon, though both were crying. He couldn’t be sure, but he could swear he saw Jay cry as well when they showed the rest the recording of it.

Sunghoon continued to suffer through the symptoms for a couple of weeks before they got worse. He was certain something was wrong with him, but the doctor kept telling him it was normal and that the baby was completely healthy. And then, on his tenth week of pregnancy, Sunghoon’s parents came over to the dorm, unannounced. Or partially unannounced, since his mother had texted him asking for when they’d have a free day and Sunghoon had guessed something like that would happen. He did forget about it, though.

“Sunghoon-hyung!” Jungwon called him from far away, but he could hear the quick footsteps approaching him. “Your mum’s here?” It sounded so much like a question, Sunghoon was confused for a moment. Probably as lost as Jungwon.

“Oh, I didn’t know she was coming,” he told Jungwon and looked over at Heeseung. “Did she tell you anything?” Heeseung shook his head, but started shutting down his game. Sunghoon groaned, he loved his mother, but he honestly just wanted to rest. “Okay, where’s she?”

“Sitting on the sofa, talking to Sunoo-hyung,” Jungwon answered. Sunghoon was not surprised at all.

Sunghoon walked into the living-room before Heeseung, for once not caring the he was in his pyjamas. Heeseung insisted that he had to put some effort into his appearance to go talk to his in-law, Sunghoon thought it was stupid but let him be. As soon as Sunoo saw him coming, he made up an excuse to leave the room, wanting to give them some time alone with each other. Sunghoon would rather he stayed, but he couldn’t admit that out loud.

“Hi, mum, how have you been?” He started awkwardly.

“I’ve been fine, haven’t heard from my son in weeks after learning through the internet that he was pregnant, but fine.” Sunghoon winced at his fake cheery tone and the fact that he had simply forgotten to call his family since then. It hadn’t been intentional, there had been too many things to take care of.
