Seon was standing before her desk in front of her computer screen, looking at the file she had had open for a few hours already.
It contained her new book, which she had been working on for a long time and which she only had two weeks left to deliver to the publishing house with which she has a contract. That deadline should have kept her busy enough to think about nothing else, but unfortunately, that was not the case.
Even though she was trying to focus on her work and forget about reality and the triviality she has in life, her mind wouldn't let her fully concentrate, for it kept bringing memories before her eyes.
From Jungkook's hurt eyes to the memories of fear he had caused her, to Jimin's eyes and the tenderness he had while looking at her. Why was he so peaceful for her, even if he wasn't there?
Now she knew the answer. It was because she was in love with him. And yet Seon had hurt him. She had denied him and turned her back on him and her own feelings.
Was there a way to fix this? What words could take back the pain that her refusal may have caused him? And if she were to go talk to him, was there any chance for him to believe her and accept her after all this?
Seon left a breath to escape her lips, feeling the desperation grow inside her. And as her hands ran through her hair, an idea suddenly popped into her mind.
She was a writer after all. Where she can express herself best is in writing. And she definitely had a lot of feelings that she wanted Jimin to know about. So much that words would never be enough, but on a piece of paper, her feelings could remain eternal.
Even if their love never found a way to exist in this reality, Seon could create another. A story worthy of their love, her feelings, her pain. A story that will represent her appropriately.
With such thoughts, she opened a new file on the computer and abandoned the book she was supposed to be working on because she had to deliver. And start writing a new one, from scratch.
---change of set---
Jungkook was sitting at the table of a restaurant that was within the hotel he had gone to and had surprised Luke, who certainly wasn't expecting to hear from the front desk that a gentleman named Jeon had requested to meet him and was waiting for him.
A few minutes had been spent with him alone in his chair, but he didn't mind the fact that he was waiting for him, as long as he would come out of this conversation with the information he wanted.
"Good morning Mr Jeon." Luke's voice snapped him out of his thoughts and drew his attention to the man who finally appeared in front of him.
"Good morning Mr Luke. I hope my morning visit doesn't bother you." Jungkook brought his hand out for a formal handshake after the small head bow he gave, a professional smile on his lips that made Luke feel welcomed for the moment.
After the two took their seats at the table and Luke ordered his coffee to start his breakfast, he decided to comment on Jungkook's unexpected action.
"The truth is that you found me unprepared for this visit of yours. Of course, I don't consider it annoying just unexpected. Anyway, I am available to solve any question that may have caused you to come at such an early hour to the hotel where I am staying, without an appointment." Luke made it clear that he was at his disposal, of course with only business reasons in mind that could bring someone like Jungkook to appear so unexpectedly before him.
The two of them were very close to signing the contract after all, and once that was to happen, Luke was sure that the company he was representing would give him a promotion.
"I'm glad you had time to spare for me. But let me be direct about the reason for my visit." Jungkook decided to be straightforward, intending to catch him off guard, for it could later benefit him in the conversation.
"I have been informed that you personally happen to know one of my employees personally. Could you tell me what your relationship with that individual is exactly?" And indeed his words certainly surprised Luke clearly as his face betrayed him.
"Ah...Miss Y/N is a childhood friend, one could say-"
"Friend? You sure have a certain age gap, however. How come that back then you ended up becoming friends with a practical kid?" Jungkook interrupted his try to explain, clearly placing a new aura between them that was no longer so friendly.
"Ah...my then girlfriend had her as her neighbour. Miss Y/N often used to hang out around her and not only her. Very often she also had a friend along, named Seon." Luke deliberately mentioned Seon's name as he now knew the fact that Jungkook was married to your best friend and once he had heard her name in his little research about you that he recently did, he knew that it was the same friend you used to have.
"I assume you know who I'm referring to. Anyway, I assure you there is no reason to worry. If the fact that I withheld such information bothers you, I would like you to know that I simply did not consider it necessary for anyone to know such trivial information. It has nothing to do with our business agreement after all." Luke added, feeling a little satisfied with the confidence he was projecting on himself.
"Of course, it has nothing to do with our business but it certainly has to do with people I care about. Regardless how about you just let me know how much Miss Y/N owes you and you proceed to end the relations with my employee, once and for all." Jungkook's gaze transformed to a piercing serious one that was carrying a certain amount of anger in it, enough to make Luke feel the pressure of the moment.
"Mr Jeon with all due respect I have for you, I think her debt to me is none of your business. She will pay me by herse-". His words got interrupted as Jungkook proceeded to get out of his pocket a check and place it on the table, already signed and with a large percentage of money written on it.
"I hope this is enough to both pay off her debt and ensure that you will never get close to her or get involved with her family ever again" Jungkook looked him in the eyes, making it obvious that he wasn't going to take no for an answer.
Luke took the check closer to him and looked at it for a moment before a smile reached his lips and he placed it in his pocket.
"Judging by the amount, I assume you know what really connects me to your...employee. I'm surprised that she would ever talk to anyone about the past but I'm even more surprised that it is a man the one she confided in. Apparently, you seem to have a soft spot for your so-called employee. What's the reason behind that I wonder?" Luke intentionally replied with words that left much to be implied as he had a desire to play with the nerves of the young man who had just bought him but had also irritated him with the derogatory way he was looking at him.
"Even if I was to answer that I don't think you would be able to understand. There are human emotions involved after all, and you are definitely not someone that could ever fall within the category of a human being." Jungkook stood up from his seat and left without looking back, leaving Luke, visibly irritated as anger showed on his face as his fingers balled into a fist.
So you weren't scared enough to keep your mouth shut forever huh? That's okay sweet Y/N. I will remind you what fear tastes like.
