Chapter 92

"What do I do...I don't think I can run after you anymore...but if you don't run to me instead...I guess that will mean our end." He murmured to himself, as inwardly he was caught in a dilemma and was filled with fear, for now, that he no longer had the capacity to give, risk and sacrifice for her love, would she at least wait till he could fill himself enough to afford to try? Was it too much of him, that there existed a part of him, that wanted to see her make a move instead? Show him that she wants him and is ready to risk her feelings to get to him.

Shin had informed you that Jungkook had called you to his office, just as soon as you had arrived at your desk. You barely got to leave your belongings there before hurrying to get to the elevators and reach his front desk.'

To your surprise his secretary didn't even bother to halt you in order to announce you this time, making you think that finally she had gotten used to your intrusions. You gave her a small bow regardless as you passed her by and proceeded to knock twice at Jungkook's glassy door, before pushing it and entering.

"I heard you called for me." You spoke as you stepped further inside and closer to his desk, bringing to a halt, his focus on some documents that he was holding, as he left his gaze to travel at you almost instantly after hearing your voice.

"Oh, Yes, Y/N. Have a seat." He urged you and you did as he told you, staring at him for a while as he returned his eyes on the peppers and you waited for him to be done with that, as it seemed important.

"Sorry for the wait." After barely some minutes he spoke again while placing the papers aside and letting his hands rest on the desk while he looked at you, and for some reason, you instantly grew nervous.

Why is he making me feel like this is some kind of formal meeting? I don't like feeling awkward. 

You blinked at him while thinking that and he just smiled without saying a thing, making the atmosphere even worse, and you couldn't help but snap and be straightforward with it.

"Why are you being creepy? Just say what you called me here for already. You are getting on my nerves." You admitted and he cracked up briefly as he leaned back on his chair.

"Ah sorry, sorry, it's just that...you may not like what I am about to say but I have to say it and...I wouldn't want us to end up arguing again." He reciprocated your honesty, his words making you grow serious and slightly worried. 

"What are you talking about?"

"Well...Okay, I will be direct. I took the initiative and paid off the debt you have to Luke." He admitted and you instantly flew up from your seat, your expression looking utterly shocked at first but soon a veil of anger took over your face and made him stand up too.

"What? Why did you do that? What gives you the right to get involved?" You argued and he walked around his desk to get over to you, remaining calm.

"Look, I know your pride may not like it. But if that's the case then don't you think that it's better to owe money to me than to him? I don't want that man anywhere near you after everything he has done!" You were left speechless for a moment, realizing that he knew that the Luke that had come here as a representative for a company was the one from your past and apparently he had found out that he was the one you had a debt to somehow. Your mind couldn't help but malfunction for a moment as you couldn't figure out how.

"Y/N, I know it wasn't my place and I know you like solving your issues on your own. I also know that you may hate owing me anything but I know if I was to erase that debt towards me you will be feeling guilty or like you are taking advantage of me. I didn't do that with any intention of trapping you, I just want to help you. You have always helped me, you have been there for me, so please allow me to do this one thing in return for you, okay?" As you fell quiet, a sense of panic rose inside him so he tried to reason with you and explain his actions.

"Did he accept the money without questioning anything?" You left your wonder to escape your lips and as Jungkook could witness the glimpse of fear in your orbs, he couldn't help but take a step closer and hesitantly place his hands on your shoulders.

"So what if he questions? There's nothing he can do to you anymore." He uttered and you instantly shivered at the thought and only, your eyes closed tight at the image that flashed before your eyes. 

Now he knew that you had not kept your mouth shut. Now he knew that you had betrayed him and he had warned you about speaking out about this. The thought only terrified you enough for tears to well in your eyes and Jungkook couldn't help but let his hands travel to your face and brush two warm tears that rolled on your cheeks.

"There's nothing for you to fear. I promise you, you won't be alone this time...I won't let anyone hurt you again." You opened your eyes, only to meet his, looking at you with tenderness at a closer distance than before, his heartfelt promise making you get filled with warmth and reassurance inside and to both your surprise it made you lean in and rest your face at the crook of his neck, in search of a sense of safety.

His hands were left mid-air at your action, and his heart had sped up at the feeling of your breath against his neck, but he didn't hesitate for long to wrap his arms tightly around you and engulf you in his embrace for he could only guess how much you needed the comfort.

"We will solve this together once and for all...and it's fine if you keep disliking me after. You can even stop talking to me if you want...Just allow me to be by your side, for this once." He murmured by the side of your head, as he was completely aware of all the words you had ever spoken to him and all the mistakes and flaws he had as a human. Maybe he was not that much of a decent person nor good enough of a friend but he wasn't trying to lie nor pretend that he could be.

 All he knew was that he couldn't bare him being an issue in your life anymore and he was willing to go to an extent to end him.
