His thoughts were unknown.

And by the time Atallie decided to look back, the man was already nowhere to be seen.

Sigh.

Goodness, I almost shot myself in the foot.

Atallie frowned at the thought but she quickly threw it away at the back of her mind as she looked for Lizbeth.

She wanted to go back. Now.

The next day.

It was yet another bright and sunny day. The weather at the capital was always this fuzzy, warm and clear.

Atallie, having been well adjusted at living at the capital residence of the duke, was leisurely having afternoon tea with a book on her hand.

Lila was tending at the roses nearby while Lizbeth was cooped up at the large study hall of the duke.

The warm breeze of the wind made the usually pale and fair complexion of Atallie flushed red. It was not hot to the point of irritation. Rather, it was cozy and comforting.

With that, Atallie's cheeks were tinted in red and her complexion appeared brighter, livelier and it added more vitality to her appearance, even dispelling a bit of her usually cold and rigid aura.

The afternoon tea was very enjoyable with the book that she was currently reading.

Atallie was immersed in reading and was well-satisfied with the atmosphere.

However, someone was about to disturb her peace at that moment when Laura, the head maidservant came slightly running.

"Your Grace!" Laura came, quick on her feet.

A slight frown surfaced at the impassive yet charming face of Atallie.

She could see Laura almost dashing to her direction.

Lily, who got a slight shock, and was also suddenly disturbed, put down the gardening tools on her hand and left her bed of roses and went to Atallie.

"Your Grace... there's the..." Laura panted as she tried to catch her breath.

Noticing her inappropriate actions, she tried to calm herself down and smoothen her appearance before clearing her throat.

"Ahem, Your Grace, pardon me for such behavior," she said.

"What is it?" Atallie asked right away. There was no need for her to reprimand Laura about her previous actions.

Laura was slightly surprised that the duchess didn't even reproach her of her inappropriate behavior.

After all, it was wrong to behave carelessly like that in front of the master.

Although her position was the counterpart of the usually stiff and strict Leonor, Laura was more of the bubbly side.

And maybe this was the reason why Atallie and her clicked easier than Atallie with Leonor. For Atallie, this kind of person was more open-minded and approachable. But she was aware that this characteristic of Laura didn't mean that she was a naive and ignorant head maidservant.

After all, Duke Calex would not possibly place such a person as the caretaker of his capital's residence and as the head of the servants, right?

Thus, one should not take Laura lightly.

Seeing that the duchess didn't have any intention to scold her, but instead asked right away, Laura could only answer.

"Your Grace, Her Royal Highness's carriage is outside," Laura said.
