The sun sets down behind the girls as they pedal to the forest whilst talking to each other. "You know, I still don't get why you chose the creepiest part of the woods to have a ritual," Becca says as they pedal through the historical land that Salem was in the sixteen hundreds.
"I just kind of feel drawn to it," Izzy answers with a shrug. "And besides, it's nice to be in the comfort of nature." She adds.
"The park behind my house has great nature too," Becca argues once they reach the trail into the forest.
After a moment, the girls are sitting criss coss from one another on a clearing of dark woods. They are deep in conversation. "But you know who did? Glenn."
"He is a phenomenal dancer!" Izzy says with excitement. "Phenomenal dancer," Becca repeats in agreement. "Yes, exactly. It's really, really beautiful." Izzy rants. "Uh-huh." Becca hums as she sets down some things she pulled out from her bag. A phone beeps, signaling a notification.
Izzy picks up her phone and squints at the screen. "My mom is shopping for snacks for the movie marathon and keeps sending me blurry pictures of cookies." She explains with a huff.
"She's just trying to help." Becca mumbles. "I know, but it's just like, buy the cookies, Susan. Who cares?" Izzy cries to the sky making Becca laugh. "You remember Auntie y/n's cookies?" Becca wonders and Izzy gasps. "You mean those cookies we had to plan when stealing them from our parents' cookie jars?" Becca nods as they laugh. "I'm just happy she's okay with sharing that recipe."
"Yeah, it's too bad she doesn't stay in Salem. Traveling the world sounds great, but it does sound lonely." Becca mutters and Izzy holds up a finger. "But she does have Jinx. How old is that dog, though? I remember him being with Auntie for the longest time." The girls laugh again before sighing into silence.
Izzy then pulls out a photo of them and Cassie, setting it down with the other things. Becca takes a good look at the picture and gives Izzy a 'Really'? look.
"What?" Izzy asks defensively. "Felt like we needed her here with us." Becca picks up the photo and holds it closer to her face. The photo is shown from an earlier time the difference of age. The environment is the same as the one Becca and Izzy are in and the girls are smiling big.
With a scoff, Becca sets the picture face down to the leaf-covered ground. "Okay, ready?" She asks, lighting up a match. "Yeah," Izzy answers. Becca lit up the candle they got from Gilbert.
Once the candle is lit, the girls take a deep breath and begin talking in sync. "Another year begins anew, Maiden, Mother, and Crone too. We call on thee with one request, help our intentions manifest."
Suddenly, the candle violently sparks, scaring Izzy and Becca to back up with a shriek. They quickly blow at it, trying to put the dangerous flame out. Becca comes up with an idea and takes out her water. She dumps the liquid on the candle, putting it out.
Both girls sigh in relief. "Thanks a lot, Gilbert. Almost had a forest fire." Izzy mutters under her breath.
But before they can fully relax, a black flame appears from the wick, scaring the girl with surprise and nervousness.
