Octo-Oneshots

"Barrot?" Shellington called and winced as his head hit the bottom of his pull-out bed. Where on earth could he be? It didn't seem likely that such a little sprout could've gotten very far. As he pulled his throbbing head out from under the bed, a little yellow Vegimal toddled into the room and perched himself on Shellington's lap.

"Tunip!" Shellington exclaimed gleefully as the Vegimal chirped in worry and reached a flipper up to his head, which he dodged.

"Never mind me, my dear boy he reassured his surrogate son, "Have you found Barrot yet?" Tunip shook his adorable little head no. Shellington sighed and rubbed his aching temples. It was a bit embarrassing what happened, really. The Vegimals had begged him to play hide and seek with them, and due to his intensely terrible seeking skills, they now had one Vegimal unaccounted for.

"Tunip?" He muttered, not really addressing his adopted son, "What have I done?" Tunip only chirped sympathetically and gave him the biggest hug he could.

"Wuvva." Tunip squeaked, trying to make his Shellydo all better again.

"I love you too." Shellington replied and gave him the biggest hug he could give to such a tiny creature before straightening right up, "Hold on a second." He felt a tickle on his back. His suspicions were confirmed when Tunip began to giggle

"Barrot, I know you're behind me." He called as a little orange Vegimals jumped in front of him in one of the most theatrical poses he's ever seen anyone in. Shellington could not help but laugh a little himself as he knelt down to his "son"'s level.

"I found you." He cooed as he tapped Barrot's nose, and the tiny little sprout giggled and threw his arms around his father figure. All of Shellington's previous frustration melted away. No matter how many little accidents or little mistakes they made, he could never stay mad at them for more than a second. From the moment the Vegimals had hatched, they were his children, and he vowed he'd love every single one of them.
