Chapter 8

Mika pov

(This is the season two finale so I'm not going to go through the whole thing because I'm lazy.)

Shiro was going over the plan one more time. I wasn't paying attention because I already knew it and I don't really do anything so...yeah.

"Zarkon took the bait. He's got my location. Is everyone in position?"

"We have not yet heard from Thace. He was supposed to contact us two vargas ago."

"he could have been captured."

"Or killed. We need to abort the mission immediately."

"Abort? No. We can not back away now." Allura insists.

"The blade of marmora does not take chances. It's how we've survived for so long." Kolavan argued.

" It's holding you back. Your caution is the reason Zarkon is still in power." I said.

"We would rather wait than jeopardize everything. Besides, it's too late to get someone else

inside." Antok interjects.

"I'll do it." Keith said out of the blue.

"What?"

"Are you insane?" I said as I stood up from the step I was sitting on.

"I'll sneak onto Zarkons ship. I'm Galra so I'll be able to interact with their technology. Pidge you can rig up one of those pods with a clocking device right?"

"Well yeah."

"Going onto Zarkons ship is a suicide mission." I said fear rising in my voice.

"I would never command someone so inexperienced to go on a mission so dangerous."

"No one's commanding me. I'm doing it." Keith said with a determined face.

"Pidge, get that pod ready,"Shiro ordered. "Keith let me know when you're on your way. I'll give you cover."

I ran into the hanger right as Keith was about to get in the pod. He saw me and stopped moving. I ran towards the pod but slowed into a walk as I approached.

"This is a bad idea and you know it," I said and he looked down, avoiding eye contact with me. "But it's not like I could talk you out of it anyway, you're way too stubborn." His head jerked up to me. "Please just don't die. Ok?" I feel his hands go around my waist pulling me into a hug. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he buried his forehead in the crook of my neck.

"I'll come back I promise." He tells me as we move away from each other. I nod and he climbs into the pod. The pod takes off leaving the hanger. I walk back to the bridge, my mind full of worry, and I would never admit it, fear. I reached the bridge then the Glara showed up. Shiro started taking out the Galra ships one by one.

"No!" Allura and I yelled at the same time. The quintessence of Voltron was drained leaving it motionless. My eyes locked on the red lion.

"Paladins, can you hear me?" Coran said over comms. "I thought the virus shut down all of Zarkons power."

"That blast was not from the ship's weapons, it was magic." Allura said, turning and looking at Coran.

"It must be the Komar. Zarkon has been trying to develop a device to extract the quintessence from planets. It appears he seceded." Kolivan informs us.
