Ariel was more than pleased to have found a friend in Marie though Adrian had been pretty annoying the whole night yet Marie was there to help her feel comfortable, the two had promised to meet in school the following day to further enhance their budding friendship and get know each other better, they bade each other farewell that night and went to sleep happily anticipating their meeting the next day.As soon as the day broke, Ariel excitedly prepared for school, her mother was suspicious of her enthusiasm towards going to school that day but concluded it was perhaps because she would meet Adrian at school, she felt relieved that her daughter had found a nice friend at school, this would relief her of her worries.
Ariel completed her morning routine and her mother drove her to school, She happily bode her mother farewell and happily walked into the school, as she got to the corridor, her eyes scanned the enter perimeters, searching for traces of Marie and they fell on Y.k who was in the midst of several girls who were giggling, she moved closer but far enough so it wouldn't seem she was prying or she was interested in his business.
Y.k beamed with smiles as the girls surrounded him, he was widely known by everyone in school and was every girl's heartthrob, being at the center of attention made him feel important.
"Y.k, we saw your last game and it was awesome!" A girl with two cornrows complimented.
"Of course! Did you see how he scored that goal against the opposing team? It was out of this world!" Another girl exclaimed.
"I love that! It was exciting and my God! I almost fainted when I saw that skill!" A girl complimented.
"Our school football team would be nothing and go nowhere without you, you are the star of the show, not only are you intelligent and talented, you are also good looking, a perfect combo!"
Y.k chuckled.
"I do not make the team only you know, we are a team and the commendation for the game we won goes to us all for our hardwork, persistence and sacrifice, don't you forget that." Y.k said humbly.
The girls blushed.
"Not only is he talented, he's also humble." A girl commented.
Y.k chuckled softly, he knew the girls were all praising him just to get his attention, he was attractive, the most attractive boy in the school so it wasn't a new thing to him, several times they had thrown themselves shamelessly to him, anything to get his attention and heart and they would jump at it without thinking twice, he enjoyed this peace and tranquility as he maintained his lane else he would have been caught up in several dramas.
Just recently, his team had played a match against the team from another prestigious school and he lead them to victory, he was their greatest asset and his name was chanted the most during the game by the crowd, the coach had made him the captain of the time and he drew more attention to himself than ever before.
Everyone wanted to be his friend and get on his good sides, the boys wanted to befriend him so they would have access to the prettiest of girls in school using his influence and the girls wanted to be close to him so they would have a chance to make him their boyfriend or more popular by virtue of his popularity.
The entire school was his fanbase except Adrian and his friends who were always at loggerheads with him, he had tried avoiding the girls at first but he gradually learnt that avoiding will only do him more harm so he talked to them when necessary and set boundaries at all times, this way, he was in good terms with everybody.
"Tell us Y.k, how did you feel when you scored the goal that made us emerge as the winner?" A girl asked curiously.
Y.k smiled, he knew it was just an excuse to linger more around him, yet he obliged to explaining it to them, there was no harm in bragging about his efforts.
