Two Loves are Better Than One (Xavier Thorpe x Reader x Ajax Petropolus)

You had made your way back to your dorm, your feet dragging against the ground from being exhausted. "The moving stairs were easier to navigate than that" you muttered falling onto your bed.
It was getting late and you were put like a light, too tired to notice Apollo wasn't back yet.

Light filtered through your eyelids, causing you to open your eyes. You rubbed your eyes clearing the haze and looking around, the sight making you gasp. You were standing up on top of a cliff that overlooked a body of water. The cliffside was covered in flowers and the sun made it look like they were glowing.
"Don't be afraid y/n" a voice suddenly said, though whispy and quiet you almost mistook it for wind "you have found your place, you're free."

You shot up in your bed, breathing heavily, frantically looking around. You were back in your room, it had only been a dream but it felt so real, you could still picture the cliff, still hear that voice.
"Y/n? Are you okay?" A voice called out to you and only then did you realize Apollo was back "you were turning a lot in your sleep, did you have a nightmare?"
Apollo was by your side sitting down next to you, concerned eyes looking into yours.
You nodded "I'm okay, just a weird dream" you replied, "what time is it?"
"6 in the morning, class doesn't start for another half an hour if you want to go back to sleep" they replied.
You shook your head "no it's okay, I need to clear my head, you go back to sleep, I'll see you in class" you said standing up and stretching.
Apollo nodded and walked back over to her bed, falling asleep almost immediately.
You busied yourself with changing into Nevermores school uniform, one that you had specifically requested because you refused to wear a tight-fitting uniform that made you uncomfortable.
With one last look around your room, and making sure you had your bag for school, you were out the door.

You hadn't explored the school just yet and decided to have a look around.
You wandered around the halls, and eventually found yourself in what you could only describe as the astronomy tower. What you didn't expect was to find Xavier sitting cross-legged on the ledge with a sketchbook in his lap, his hair pulled back and a pencil tucked behind his ear.
"Xavier? What are you doing up?" You asked walking up next to him, leaning your elbows on the ledge "should you be sitting up there?"
Xavier jumped at the sound of your voice and quickly shut his sketchbook before you could see what he was drawing.
"Oh! Uh- I come up here to draw sometimes when I don't want to walk to the shed" he replied, "and I don't think it's that bad, I'm not gonna fall."
You chuckled and climbed up next to him "alright I'll take those chances" you said, "what were you drawing?"
Xavier froze and his face heated up "nothing! Just some doodles honestly" he quickly replied.
You frowned curiosity taking over "can I see?" You asked, reaching out to touch the sketchbook.
Your fingers barely grazed the cover when Xavier pulled it out of your reach "no! I've not finished with it anyways!" He said quickly "uh- school is about to start, I can walk you to class, what is it?"
You didn't argue as he hopped down for the ledge, jumping down after him "potions" you replied. He only nodded in response and began leading the way to your class.

You followed silently beside him until he stopped and turned to you, giving an awkward smile "right- well this is your class" he said peering into the classroom "oh yeah! I forgot Ajax has this class, if you need anyone to sit by I'm sure he won't mind."
You nodded and smiled, thanking him before walking into the classroom. Sure enough when Ajax noticed you his face lit up "y/n!" He called out waving you over "sit by me, sit by me."
You chuckled and sat beside him causing him to giggle. Literally giggled, like a little kid.
"Hi Ajax," you said, getting out your school supplies from your bag "how are you?"
"Good now that you are here," he said smiling "how are you?"
"I'm good, couldn't sleep so went up to what I think was the Astronomy tower" you replied.
Ajax furrowed his eyebrows in confusion "we have an Astronomy tower?" He muttered under his breath.
You chuckled and would've continued talking but the teacher walked in.
"Turn to page 394" his monotone voice drawled out, this was going to be a long class.

An hour and a half later class was over and you and Ajax were walking to your next class. "That was so boring" you complained dragging your feet against the floor.
Ajax laughed at your antics wrapping an arm around your shoulder "you poor thing" he said "how about after classes, we go down to Jericho for a bit? I think Xavier is in your next class if you want to invite him along too."
You nodded agreeing with the idea and headed into your next class after waving goodbye to Ajax.
You were early and sat down in a random seat, a couple of minutes later Xavier was sliding into the seat next to you.
"Hey, Y/n, how's your first day going?" Xavier asked.
"Going well so far, Ajax and I are going to Jericho after school if you wanna come" you replied, and Xavier immediately nodded.
"Yeah, I would love to go."

Later, in the middle of class, Xavier turned to you "wanna see something cool?" He asked.
At your nod of approval, he opened his sketchbook to a drawing of a bird. He hovered his hand over it and you watched in amazement as the picture came to life.
Your eyes grew wide with adoration as the bird flew over to you, perching on your finger.
Xavier watched you with a faraway look in his eyes as a lopsided grin appeared on his face.
You were too busy aweing at the bird to notice that Xavier was looking at you with the same adoration that you were looking at the bird.
He only snapped out of it when your teacher coughed and gave the two of you a pointed look before continuing the lesson.

After you were done with school for the day and you were on your way to meet Xavier and Ajax outside of Nevermore, you were stopped by a Vampire you recognized from your classes.
"Hi, sweet cheeks, where are you going?" He asked.
You deadpanned "has that line ever worked on anyone?" You asked raising a brow.
The vampire lost his composer for a second, baffled by your response before gathering himself "if you say yes, darling" he said leaning closer to you.
You in response leaned back "your delusional if you think this is attractive, I have standards and you don't meet them."
Ajax and Xavier were late to meet you and were running down the hallway when they were stopped by the sight of you standing calmly with your arms crossed watching several squirrels attack a vampire.
"Y/n? Wanna explain?" Xavier spoke first walking up to you, followed by Ajax.
"The pathetic excuse for life was hitting on me. I made it clear I wasn't interested so I asked Acorn to do me a favor" you replied, further confusing the two boys.
"Who is Acorn?" Ajax asked.
Only then did you realize what you said "oh- right- uh- surprise? I can talk to animals, Acorn is a Squirrel, and the rest is his family" you explained. You hid the worry in your voice, even after befriending the two the fear of being outlasted for your power still nagged you.
"That's awesome!" Ajax cheered and the fear was immediately gone "can you talk to any animals? Can you call them? Is it like mind control or do they help you of their own free will?"
Xavier grinned and lead the two of you out of the school, making sure to identify the vampire and make a mental note to talk to him later.

As you three walked to Jericho, you made sure to answer all of Ajax's questions as he got more intrigued by every answer, while Xavier stayed quiet, admiring the two of you.
He couldn't help but notice how cute it was when Ajax's eyes lit up with wonder every time you answered a question and how adorable your smile was when you explained everything. Maybe he was catching feelings too quickly, but those visions and those late-night talks with Ajax about them had made it seem like he had known you for years.
