"You too" I said as I'm walking out the door to the elevator

I get my phone out my new pink telfar bag my Pop-pop just got me last month on our granddad and granddaughter date. See once a month my grandpa and I have a date once a month to catch up on everything that's going on. He also does it with my older brother Ezra and my younger brother Treylin.

I put in one of my airpods and called Ezra.

"King where you at ugly?"

"I know yo ugly ass ain't talking bout nobody ugly Marie" he said as he's stilling looking at the road

"Whatever you almost here?"

"Yea Marie I'm almost there, I was at my girl house"

"Awww I gotta go see my sis in law, matter fact ima call her when you get here"

Ezra has a girlfriend and they been with each other for 3 years now. Growing up Ezra was so mean when it came to girls. Back in school people would think he was a playa because of the amount of girls who would come up to him. Some even lied and said they did stuff together but I knew that shit was a lie because we would tell each other everything. Even though we four years apart we close asl.

"Ion think you wanna do that"

"Marie what pops ass gone do?" He looked down real fast and put his eyes back onto the road

I looked up and saw his car down the block so I hung up and got in the car.

"King you going to the dinner party tonight?"

"Yea cus you know how GG get cus if I don't come, she gone start crying like her feelings hurt and then Pops gone curse me out"

I laughed and said "don't do my GG but yea she do be getting emotional about everything sometimes"

"You bringing Ka'Saiyah?"

(A/N: Ka'Saiyah is Ezra's girlfriend; which is the name I just came up with 😂)

"Of course my girl coming Marie" he said giving me a side eye

"King shut up, I just wanted to make sure my bookie was coming" I said with a slight attitude

Is it just me or do ya'll be asking dumbass questions you know the answer to?

"Don't be getting an attitude with me Marie, you the one with the dumbass questions and where tf ya'll females be getting them dumb ass names from?"

"Not too much" I said laughing

One thing about King he always managed to make me laugh no matter what the situation is.

"What time Treylin get outta school?" I asked

" I think the nigga get outta school at like 2:45 but he coming home at like 5 because he gotta work"

"I can't believe our baby brother is all grown up"

"Shit same, I still can't believe you grown lol girl cus it felt like just yesterday I was helping mama take care of ya'll"

One thing about my brother is he's very nonchalant but he can't get real emotional around the females that's most important in his life. That's one thing I appreciate about him and my grandfather always teaching me that men can show emotion and can be vulnerable. I can't help to think about my mom tho. She was my best friend and I couldn't fully understand how or why she died until I got older.

As I look at the window sometimes I think that would if she made a different decision, would she still be living? Or what if she never met the people she did, would my siblings and I be here? So many things questions unanswered. But one things for sure is when she died my grandparents took it the hardest because that was their only child cus GG couldn't have kids.

*Skips to the house*

Once I hit open the door I smell all the good food coming from the kitchen. I take my heels off and sit them by the door and yes Is still live with my grandparents and baby brother. I still need time to build myself up to have stabled life. I was about to walk into the kitchen when I see my grandpa holding my grandma singing a "Be Without You" by Mary J Blige while she's cooking.

See that's the type of relationship I want. When my one of my grandparents would come home from a long day of work and we came home from school, the other one would make sure we had a hot meal on the table. But I clear my throat as I walk into the kitchen and they turn their heads to me.

"Hey grandbabii" they both said in unison

"Hey my two favorite grandparents" I said as I started to open up the pots

"We're your only grandparents" GG said

"And get your hands out my damn pots Grandbabii" GG

"But GG" I whined

I know what ya'll thinking like what the hell is a 20 year old doing whinnying but you would too if you smell cornbread, ox tails on a stove, baked Mac n cheese, sweet potatoes, and more stuff.

"But GG nothing" she said "Go wash up for the dinner party tonight and call my grandson in law and tell him to come over for dinner tonight"

"Bye granny he is not your grandson in law" I said laughing walking out the kitchen.

She took slides off and tried to throw one at me but I started running up the steps. She yelled and said "WHAT I TELL YOU ABOUT CALLING ME GRANNY!?"
