42| Out of the Shadow Realm

"Now!" Glitter Lucky's shout echoes loud and clear higher in the sky. "Pink, orange, green, blue, yellow!" This makes Nogo stop, and definitely averts his attention because he turns away from you and backs away, smirk transforming into anger.

"You've already done this Glitter Force! If I were you, I'd stop wasting my energy!"

"You stay away from her you bigger ugly clown! Painting the sky with the colours of hope!"

That is when an eruption of light blasts the darkened sky above, bursts of pink, orange, yellow, green and blue come together to create the phoenix shape you have seen before. You remember this one. The Phoenix Attack.

Then, "Phoenix Power Attack!" They all shout and you watch as the bird dives down and sprays the Emperor back with positive energy. Once last explosion of light is thrown onto Nogo and secretly you enjoy the scene of him collapsing back, finally getting what he deserves. After commencing this war, after stripping the lives of his creatures without a care in the world and especially after Rascal.

The Glitter Force's attack does get Nogo down for some time, but you can tell he is already getting back up. The Glitter Force saved me from being killed, they did this for me.

You take this as the perfect chance to back up, but getting to a stand is harder than you thought while your nerves prickle with searing fire. Though before you know it, the girls are already at your side helping you up.

Glitter Sunny purses her lips. "You aren't really bad are ya? You're just doing your job."

"Yeah!" Glitter Spring adds. "We were dead meat."

"You...," you begin, feeling a bead of sweat drip from your hairline, "saved my life too. Why?"

Warmth swells in your aching heart, but then the ground rumbles and shakes and you all turn to watch as Emperor Nogo pulls himself up like it is the easiest thing in the world. Immediately the Glitter Force stand guard in front of you, shielding you and something does not feel right. They should not be protecting you after everything you have done to them. And when you see their bodies bruised, cut, dirt smudged and shaking to hint at overtiredness, you decide that this definitely should not be their ending.

"We gave it our best guys," Glitter Spring says and the rest all turn to her with a solid nod in return, then turn to face Nogo, who is even angrier than before and opening his mouth ready to produce more energy, ready to take out the Glitter Force for good.

You push yourself forward, between Glitter Lucky and Glitter Breeze and step out in front, looking at the Emperor.

I am dying anyway. The thought circulates, reminding you that anything you do now will not change the fate of your curse.

"Don't do this Emperor Nogo!" You wince, voice shaky and feeling the pain pulsing harshly through your body, no matter how hard you try to hide it. "But if you must, you have to get through me first."
