They escorted me out of the forest after I had gathered my things. The guards walked to my sides and behind me, and Zuko in front. I don't think they realised I could just jump over them.

The group led me to a dark grey battleship at the shore. Zuko then commanded one of the guards to lead me to what he said would be the room across the hall from him so that he may "keep an eye on me". He would've put me in the brig if Iroh hadn't insisted I was a welcome guest.

My room wasn't impressive per say, it was just very different from what I was used to. The bed was cushy compared to what we slept on in the temples, which were just stone slabs with a blanket.

The atmosphere here was also a lot heavier. Just the colours being darker and the room having only one narrow window was odd to me. I also had some basic furniture like a dresser and a desk, as well as some basic wall decor like Fire Nation banners. Oh well, better than that forest.

After I put away my things — there weren't a lot of them — I flopped down on the bed. Sweet relief! The soft mattress was heaven on my back. Too bad it ended quickly when I heard agitated yet restrained knocking on the metal door.

"Yes?" I called out.

The door creaked open. It was Zuko, but he was wearing something else; a pair of dark maroon trousers and a crimson sleeveless shirt, as well as some arm rings.

"Oh. It's you. Hath his royal highness graced me with his presence?" I said, rolling the 'R's.

He huffed then said, "Get up. You're gonna teach me to fight an airbender."

"Ugh. Right now?" I complained.

"Yes. And I'll have you thrown overboard if you're not there in the next minute."

He walked away, footsteps clanging on the ship's metallic flooring.

I sighed and got up. I started to notice just how warm it gets there. I also didn't want to get my nomad top to get more ruined than it already was. Sure, whoever fixed it at Kyoshi did have admirable skill with the way I saw they stitched it up, but I didn't want to ruin it beyond repair. It became an ancient relic the moment I stepped out of the Sanctuary.

I removed the top and folded it nicely into my dresser. Then I removed one of the smaller plain red banners from the wall and wrapped it around my chest. I connected two ends over my right shoulder. Just like that, I had a simple red top.

But then I remembered we were at sea. It was gonna get cold. But I was also going to be working with a fire bender. I decided I would just wear the cloak over the top. If it got too hot, I could take it off.

I still didn't know how I was supposed to fight Zuko and learn firebending so soon after waking up when every time I felt or heard firebending, my mind would be sent back to that night. Maybe I could ask Roku? I remember the monks telling me that I had access to the wisdom of every Avatar before me.

I sat on the bed and crossed my legs. I tried meditating. A couple minutes of sitting in silence passed before I felt a weird wispy pulling. Then I heard a familiar voice.

I opened my eyes. Roku stood before me, but he was blue and translucent.

"I see you have accomplished contacting a past life, Avatar Y/n." Roku said.

"I guess so." I replied.

"What's on your mind?"

"I agreed to teach the Firelord's son to fight Aang if he taught me firebending."

"I know you are aware of how much you've turned on Aang by doing that, but that's not what's bothering you right now, is it, Y/n?"

"You're right. It's that I can't fight or be near active firebending without going into a state of panic."
