Chapter 35 - Classes and Lectures

Start from the beginning

When entering the chamber, one is met by a massive training space. A huge open expanse where members can spar and strengthen their magical or physical talents. The area was supplied with a variety of training equipment, including weights, obstacles, and training dummies, that were designed to test and enhance the members' strength and agility.

A balcony overlooking the training area was placed on the other side of the room on the floor above. It was a huge, open-air area reached through a series of imperial stairs adorned with red carpet, implying that whoever stepped across them belonged to the elite. It provided a panoramic view of the training field below and was an ideal location to observe the activities and measure the development of those who used it.

Going farther into the floor, towards the balcony, there was a tall, polished mahogany table in the centre of the room, surrounded by numerous high-backed chairs upholstered in a deep red velvet. The area was illuminated by beautiful chandeliers suspended from the ceiling, throwing a pleasant glow over the proceedings. It reminded me of a chess board, with the chairs standing in a coordinated stance around the chess board, which was the table.

At the ends of the table stood two movable chalkboards on wheels, which were behind two chairs more extravagant than the rest. It would be more befitting to call them thrones than chairs! These seats were only reserved for the President and Captain, in other words, me and Claire Bladeheart, whom I could only assume was related to Kaspian Bladeheart.

As we prepared for the conference to begin, everyone took their assigned seats. My gaze was drawn to Arthur, who sat on the other side of the table. When he saw my stare, he turned around and offered me a charming grin. I was planning to send one back, but when I saw he was sitting next to the Princess of Sapin, I narrowed my eyes. His eyes widened as a humourless smile was directed at him, and he realised he was in danger when the two of us were alone together.

The meeting ended with some pretty good ideas that had been brought up, the majority being from me and Arthur. They were written down in a notepad inside my dimension ring, which I was planning on giving the director later today. But for now, I have more important things to be doing, like attending class. Me and Gloria had met up on the way and were going to Fundamentals of Mana Theory. Arthur also had this class with us, but he decided to head off and find Elijah.

Everyone was staring as I walked past. Multiple pairs of eyes followed my every movement through the halls of which I traversed, so focused that not even a sneeze would draw their attention away from me for too long. Both genders, be it male or female watched with awe and reverence, and some with a touch of envy. Be it my magical prowess or my innate looks or even my desirable position as President, I could only presume which one it was.

"If only I could look at that beautiful face for every minute, for every hour, for every day."

"I know what you mean man, I know what you mean."

"She's so talented as well, being the first ever tri-elemental in Dicathen and all."

"No wonder the Director chose her as the Student Council President. She's like the perfect superwoman after all."

Comments like these could be heard all around in the form of whispers and hushed voices, making it difficult to pinpoint on who was saying what. Though, it didn't bother me in the slightest. Being Queen and going to places meant that people were always going to stare at you and gossip. In the end you just get used to it, letting it enter through one ear and out the other.

Classes were about to start soon, yet no one was moving. They all stood on the side-lines as they let me, and Gloria pass first. Their gazes were fixated on us the entire time, more precisely me. A lot of them had stopped mid conversation, completely ignoring their current topic while watching us. Some continued talking regardless with blank expressions plastered over their faces. And others just stared slack-jawed at my appearance or demeanour. One student even gasped upon seeing me walking past, holding his breath as he made eye contact with me for a brief second before hastily looking away, red faced. It felt almost like a competition to see who could gawk more openly at me. No matter where I went, people would stop what they were doing and make sure to follow our every move.
