"I like to think of things like that as, happy accidents." Jack said through a mouth full of old, stale hotdog. He and Dirk were chowing down on the hotdogs they had gotten when Jack crashed the truck into the hotdog place. Y/N refused to eat the old hotdogs and simply shook their head at the boys.
"They don't even taste that old with enough mustard!" Dirk replied, holding up a mustard bottle to put more on the hotdog in his hand. Jack suddenly hit the breaks and Dirk, having not put his seatbelt on correctly and it only being around his waist while the chest strap he had put behind him for comfort sake, flew forward and slammed his face on the dash, getting mustard all over himself. Luckily he hadn't gotten hurt and sat up, wiping the mustard off his face. Y/N laughed loudly at the sight.
"And here we are." Jack gestured forward. Dirk became anxious when he saw the amount of zombies in the parking lot.
"Oh man! Lumber party turned into zombie party!" He shouted. Dirk crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes, "there's no way."
"Nothing's stopping me from getting to June. Just need a little Quint magic." Jack grinned.
"Huh?" Dirk looked from Jack to Y/N, who was also smiling.
The three got out of the car and walked around to the bed of the truck.
"Tada!" Jack opened the metal box in the truck bed.
"What's that?" Dirk asked.
"The scream machine!" Y/N answered. Jack then began to explain what it did as he and Y/N worked together to pull the large speaker out.
Dirk quickly took it from them when he saw them struggle a bit, wanting to help, and set it down carefully.
They turned the egg timer and ran back to the truck, hopping in as they watched the timer go off and it play screams from some basic horror movies incredibly loudly. All the zombies in the parking lot began shuffling forward and the group smiled, the path now clear. Jack drove forward, now able to move the truck, and paused to watch the zombies crowd around the big red speaker.
"Woah." Dirk admired, leaning over Jack.
"Quint magic." Y/N and Jack said together.
"Alright, let's get inside that warehouse." Y/N grinned.
They parked up close to the building and quickly ran inside.
"Scream machine evacuation, feat complete! Thanks to Quint." Jack placed his hands on his hips as Dirk shut the door. Jack turned around and began to walk down an isle when Dirk and Y/N noticed his squeaky shoes had begin to light up at the duck tape began falling off.
"Guess he's not as lame as I thought." Dirk said, referring to Quint and not taking complete notice in Jack's shoes until Y/N chuckled to themself because of them.
"You, however." Dirk looked at him, disappointed.
"Uh, hand-me-downs. The tape is coming off." Jack shrugged before spotting a bin of tape. "Hey! Luckily, we're right by the duck tape, and it's on sale."
Ge grabbed a role and pointed to Y/N before speaking.
"I'll look in electrical, Y/N, you take appliances, and Dirk, you flush out plumbing. Get it." Jack grinned, pulling the tape. Dirk looked even more disappointed at Jack for his terrible pun.
"Hilarious." Dirk responded before walking away. Jack began to tape up his shoes and Y/N walked off towards the appliances.
Y/N walked around for a while, calling out June's name in search of the girl. They stopped walking when they heard a noise. The teenager pulled out a pocket knife they had grabbed before leaving the tree house and turned a corner quickly, holding up the knife.
