The peaceful fifteen-minute slumber was interrupted by the loud cries of the twins. Their shrieks echoed into our room and Adrian woke up with a low grumble.

We both sat up and turned to look at one another with sleepy gazes. Just a couple of weeks ago, we were the epitome of a rich Miami couple. Now, we looked like extras in a post-apocalyptic movie. With dark circles under our eyes from the lack of sleep and clothes stained with baby puke and saliva.

"I'll get it," Adrian mumbled as he rose from the bed. "You get some more sleep."

I shook my head in protest. "Let's both go," I replied and Adrian nodded not having the energy to argue with me.

The twins were only a few days old, but they had already taken a toll on us. Adrian and I had refused to hire a nanny when his mother suggested it. We wanted to have a strong bond with our children, especially in these first few days, but we did not think it would be this difficult.

As Adrian and I entered the twins' room which was adjacent to ours, we turned on the ballerina box next to the cribs. The soft melody calmed the two newborns immediately.

"I really didn't think parenthood could be this hard," Adrian said as he wrapped his arms around my waist and laid his head on mine. "My mother made it look so easy."

"Because your mother had help," Mrs McKeller chimed from behind us. We turned to her and she jumped back startled by our appearances. "You two look awful."

We both shrugged nonchalantly. It was not like she was lying—we looked very awful.

"Are you starting to consider a nanny now?" Mrs McKeller asked as she walked past us and smiled at her two grandchildren.

"I don't know, Mom. I do not want anyone else taking care of our children when we are more than capable to," Adrian replied. "Plus, there is so much evil now-in-days. How will we be sure if they're in good hands."

"You had many nannies growing up and you turned up just fine. Plus, I am not saying to rely solely on the nanny. She will just be here to help just enough so you two can get proper sleep and do your daily tasks," Mrs McKeller explained. "You two will still be able to bond with your children, but you cannot do it alone."

Adrian and I exchanged a knowing glance. We did need some sleep and the extra help wouldn't be so bad.

       "Alright," we sighed in defeat.

"I'll find you the best nanny there is," Mrs McKeller assured. "You won't regret it, I promise."

We both nodded with the best smiles we could muster, but deep down I knew that we were both not going to be fully convinced until we met the nanny and saw how the babies would react to her.

"I never doubted her advice," Adrian whispered with a proud smile as we watched the nanny his mother had found for us playing with the twins.

"Uha, and I am the Queen of France," I replied teasingly. "I've got to say, we should have really listened to your mother sooner."

In only a matter of days, Mrs McKeller was able to find the best nanny on the market. Although, she was rather young—only twenty years old—Diane was great with the twins.

We had placed her on a week long trial where we monitored her through the security cameras while we were gone. I had always watched many videos on how some nannies were aggressive with the children while the parents were not home, so I held that fear at the back of my mind during the process. Thankfully, Diane was not one of those people. She was very gentle with the twins and despite the stress of having to take care of two newborns she still managed to keep calm.

Content with the video, Adrian exited out of the security camera and pulled the other windows back up. He turned the chair to face me.

"What do you say, my love? Will she stay and work for us, or shall we keep looking?" Adrian asked as he pulled me onto his lap.

"She's great with the kids and easy to get along with," I replied. "I think we should keep her. The last few days have been quite peaceful thanks to her."

Having Diane around had really helped. Adrian and I no longer looked like sleep-deprived zombies and we were able to return to the office to get some work done while Diane watched the kids. By the time we arrived home, the twins were already bathed and fed.

"I agree with you. Let's give her a call later today to tell her the good news," Adrian replied. "And I think the schedule we have now works, too."

I nodded in agreement.

While Adrian and I worked Mondays through Thursdays, Diane would watch the twins. Then Adrian and I would spend our weekends with them, giving Diane a chance to have some days off.

"So, how did the nanny do?" Mrs McKeller asked as she walked into the office. "Was I right? Of course, I was right. Mother always knows best, you know."

"We will be giving her the good news this afternoon," I replied. "We will have James draw up a new contract and have her sign it off. Thank you for finding this nanny for us."

Mrs McKeller smiled at me brightly. "Sometimes it's okay to ask for a little help."

"Thank you," I smiled and then my eyes opened widely as I remembered something. "Oh, I forgot. We wanted to have a family dinner tomorrow night. Please let Mr McKeller know, too."

"I will let him know. You two take care, I'll see you tomorrow." Mrs McKeller waved goodbye and walked out of the office.

"You know, we haven't had some alone time since the twins were brown," Adrian said as his lips grazed my neck sending a shiver down my spine. "What do you say we leave work early and. . ."

I held back the urge to moan as his breathe fanned my face igniting the fire inside me.

"The doctor said we should wait a few more weeks," I reminded as I felt Adrian's hand slither up my waist. He gently glided it over my breast and around my neck, letting it rest on my jaw.

"I was going to say we should go on a date," he teased and my cheeks immediately reddened. "What were you thinking Mrs McKeller?"

His teasing smirk was driving me mad. He had been doing this for the past couple of weeks and I was growing tired of his teasing. I stood up and walked over to the foggy glass doors. With a smirk of my own, I locked them and closed the blinds.

"You know exactly what I was thinking Mr McKeller," I replied as I seductively unbuttoned my blouse. "You want to play with fire? Fine, I'll bring the whole blaze."

Adrian's smirk was immediately wiped off as his Adam's apple bobbed up and down. I smirked knowing I had him where I wanted him and now he was going to pay for all his teasing.
