Y/N POV
We finally found a place that Sebastian deemed good enough to show me whatever it was, he was so worked up about. We were sitting near the bridge of the south exit our backs against the large rocks.
''Well are you going to tell me, why you dragged me all the way out here? Just before dinner no less?''
''Trust me, it's definitely worth it.'' Sebastian said while he searched his bag that was laying next to him.
''Ah here it is.'' Sebastian handed over a large, blue book with curved, golden letters decorating it's cover. 'An speculo ad mentem'
"A mirror to the mind." I translated.
"You speak Latin? Why am I not surprised?"
"I can't speak it fluently, but I know the basics. I taught it myself in the summer before Hogwarts. After I received my letter I wanted to prepare myself as best as I could. So when Professor Fig told me that almost all spells were derived from Latin I figured I might as well start learning."
Sebastian laughed. "That's so Ravenclaw of you."
"Speaking of studying, I suppose this book is the reason why you've been so absent of late?"
"Right again. I've been looking for this book for days and-"
"Where did you find it?" I found myself asking.
"That doesn't matter. The point is that I did find it and I believe that the solution is in here."
In an instant I felt a shiver going down my spine. As memories of last year replayed in my mind.
It all began with that damned spellbook last year, which we found in the scriptorium. From there it all went south. Resulting in death and regret. What if this book was also filled with dangerous magic? I couldn't let him slip away into darkness again. Not for me.
"Y/N are you in there?" Sebastian asked his hand waving in front of my face.
"Why don't you want to tell me where you found that book?" I asked not able to let it go.
"Y/N, I rather not tell. It has been a very long day already. Let's just focus on the content, okay?"
I sighed standing up from my earlier position. I can not believe this. It is just like last year, the secrets, the sneaking around...
"Can you stop pacing for one minute and just look at the book-"
"Sebastian I can not do this again." I said with a shaky voice.
"Wait, what are you talking about?"
As it dawned on him his facial expression turned from soft and worried to angry and hurt.
"You think I submerged into dark magic again. His voice was nothing more than a whisper. But his tone was undeniable hinted with anger.
"Unbelievable. I expected this from Ominis, but you...
I thought that you knew me better. After what you said last year in the Undercroft about 'believing' in me you have a very poor way of showing it thus far."I was taken aback by his harsh words and before I could react, he continued: "I will tell you where I found the book. I had to fetch it in my old family home, in our underground library to be exact."
He was pacing in front of me as he ran a hand through his hair, his eyes never breaking contact with mine.
"Sebastian I-" He raised his hand as to say: I am not done.
"Do you want to know what the real icing on the cake was? My sister showed up. Right there and then where we lost everything all those years ago." His voice trembled as he turned his head away from me.
