how peculiar! how will that sit with the crystal gems?
--------
yeah, this seems like a fun concept to play with.
if a cluster can have sentience why not a gem of corruption?
But since it's corruption, you can't expect your intelligence to be very...
With that you took their hand in your forepaw and led away from the bewildered Kevin, and over to a nearby wall out of everyone's eyesight.
Once away from the crowd, they slump against you, wrapping their arms around you in a desperate hold as they tried to catch their breath.
"It's okay, hon." You comforted, rubbing the distressed fusion's back. "You're okay now."
"(N-Name)... How'd you know, we... I was here?" They asked breathlessly.
"A little onion told (Name)." You replied, trying to keep them from falling over. "Is Stevonnie okay? What happened?"
"I... we... I... don't know..." They answered anxiously, clutching handfuls of your fur.
"Deep breaths, dewdrop." You spoke gently, running your fingers through their hair. "Relax. It's alright."
After recovering themselves, Stevonnie took a deep breath and slumped over your arm.
"I don't understand what's wrong," Connie spoke-up through the fusion. "You have fun dancing but this dance isn't fun." They sounded confused, disappointed and scared all at once. "You're supposed to like this. Why... don't we like this...?"
Stevonnie heaves a sigh and stands up, though they still had their hands on your bicep.
"I wish you were here." Steven admitted through the fusion as they hugged themselves. "If we were together, it would be okay."
"But we are together, and it's not."
You frowned. You'd hoped their fusion experience would be better than this...
"Don't worry, dears." You reassured, placing a free forepaw on their cheek. "This is Stevonnie's first rave, yes? It's natural they'll get nervous in this environment."
"It's... kinda more than that." They muttered rubbed their arm as they averted their gaze. "Y-Yeah... uhm... it's hard to explain..."
"(Name) understands. Fusion seems to be a complicated experience. They can talk about it later." You reassured, pulling them into a hug. "If they'd like, (Name) can stay here until they are ready to go home. Would they like that?"
They nodded wordlessly, their face hidden in your chest fur.
"Okay. In the mean time, would Stevonnie like a drink?" Looked over your shoulder to scope the place out. "Is there a refreshments table around here?" You broke away from the hug, and took a step back. "Stay here and try to relax. (Name) will be right back."
You turned and walked into the crowd, leaving Stevonnie gather their thoughts.
They watched you for a moment before leaning against the wall and folding their arms over their chest, to further calm themselves.
"Sooo... do you want to leave now or...?" They shook their head. "N-No... let's... try to make it work. (Name)'s here now, so it'll be okay."
"Bet I can make it even better."
A hand was suddenly planted next to Stevonnie's head, and they were suddenly met with Kevin's smug grin in their face. "Hey baby, why'd you leave me on the dance floor?"
"I don't..." Feeling a sense of irritation, they brushed the man's hand away from their head. "I don't want to dance anymore."
"What are you talking about? We're the best thing that's ever happened to this place," He states pompously, brushing his bangs aside with a conceited air. "Come back out with me."
"Why should I??" Stevonnie rebuked, becoming less and less patient with the haughty individual.
"Because we're angels walking among garbage people." He states matter-of-factly. "We're perfect for each other."
"How can you say that?!" Stevonnie snapped. "You don't even know us!"
"Oh, Whoa. I'm just looking for a dance!" Kevin shoots back. "Don't get crazy!"
"No one is crazy," Stevonnie affirms in frustration. "I just don't like feeling alone here!"
"If you're so lonely, then dance with me!" Kevin shoots back.
"They already said no, buddy."
Kevin snapped his head towards you, who was approaching with a glare that could scald iron. You roughly nudged him with your head. "Beat it."
"Uck! This isn't your business, cow!" Kevin hissed, roughly shoving his hand into your muzzle to push you away. "Go eat grass or something!"
"Hey, talk to her like that!" Stevonnie tensed up. "Don't touch her like that either!"
"What, is this your pet or something?" He asked, having both his hands pressed against your face, as you grit your teeth, fighting an urge to bite his hands. "Could you maybe call it off, then? It's kinda ruining the mood here..."
Stevonnie growled, finally having enough of the arrogant man. "Ugh! Fine! You wanna dance? Let's go!"
They grab Kevin's arm and drag him back out to the dance floor.
"And it's Stevonnie." The stated proudly. "I am not your baby."
With that, they started to dance rather aggressively, in stark contrast to their graceful display earlier; kicking and punching the air in a wild sort of free-style, which yet again caught everyone's attention.
"Okay," Kevin became unnerved by the wild movements and broke into a slight sweat. "Bring it back, girl..."
Ignoring him, Stevonnie starts jumping up and down with wild abandon.
The reckless dance causes their gem to glow with exertion, and with a flash of light, the fusion falls apart, leaving Steven and Connie, lying on the ground.
The crowd gasped at the revelation as Kevin went blue in the face.
"It's two kids!" He exclaimed in shock. "I'm out."
With that, he hastily leaves, to which you quickly came upto the two children. "Is Steven okay?"
"...we're back." Steven mutters, slowly sitting up.
"Connie?" You looked at the girl, who seemed stunned, but soon started to laugh. First it was nervous, but then it blossomed into a joyous hysterical laughter, to which Steven joined in with tears in his eyes.
Your eyes switched between the two laughing children, before a smile enlightened your muzzle, feeling happy at their joy.
"YEEEEAH!" Sour Cream started to scatter glowsticks around, only adding to the joy you three felt.
In a sense of elation, you scooped the two kids up and danced with them joyously, ignoring the stares of the stunned crowd around you.
