"Cool Kid's Never Have the Time"
Breathing in deep, I savoured the dusty smell of a cramped charity shop, feeling the first sense of familiarity I've had since moving to Morioh.
Rohan stood closely beside me with a tight lip, fighting back an out right frown.
"You do know the budget isn't this tight...how about we get you some new clothes? Like we actually came out here for."
"Nope! I'm happy here! "
"Aughhhh, You know what, you just work away in here, I'm gonna get some coffee, I'll be back in like 20 minutes."
Shoving a sizeable stack of notes in my hand, he practically ran out of the shop, being extra sure he didn't touch anything on the way out.
With that I began my work, sifting through the men's t-shirts and jeans. I was surprised to find so much that fit my style since I never really saw any Japanese clothes in England. Well I say that but hand me a pair of grass-stained jeans and I'm happy enough.
With a stack of dusty clothes in both arms, I was on my way to the till until I saw the most beautiful thing ever, hidden between school blazers was possibly the most beautiful denim jacket to exist, dark red and distressed in all it's well-worn glory, calling out to me.
So naturally I rushed towards it, mentally apologising to whoever hid it there, fingers skimming the fabric just as someone from the other side of the rack eagerly ripped it from the hanger.
Shocked, I whipped my head up to be met with a pair of equally shocked blue eyes. Accepting defeat, I wordlessly continued my journey to the till.
"Wait!" I turned back and saw the owner of the blue eyes, a criminally tall boy about my age, wearing baggy black trousers and tight fitting yellow top with a friendly face, perfectly framed by a pompadour.
"Try it on."
"Wh- are you sure? I mean you got to it firs-"
"Seriously, just try it on."
Walking towards me, he held the jacket out in one hand and scooped both armfuls of clothes with the other.
I apprehensively took the jacket from his hand, sliding one arm and then the other into the sleeves. Standing awkwardly under the boy's stare. He signalled for me to spin, so I did, meeting his stare once again.
After a moment of silence, he let out a deep sigh
"As much as it pains me to say this, it suits you better. Take it."
Holding back a scream of pure joy, I thanked him hysterically as he giggled at my reaction.
"You can take literally whatever you want from my pile, this jacket is worth more than anything!"
The boy led me up to the till, still holding my selection of clothes.
"Nah it's ok, it'd be wrong to take any clothes from you after seeing how passionate you are about it."
Setting my winnings down on the till, I asked for a bag as the cashier rung everything through. I gave him my money and took my clothes to one side and began folding everything up and sliding them into the paper bag I was given, the mystery boy lending a hand.
"So are you new here? I've never seen you before?"
"I just moved here from England yesterday, I'm living with my cousin for a while"
"Just yesterday? Wow! So I guess you don't know your way around here then."
"I'm guessing this is the part where you introduce yourself and offer to 'show me around at some point'?"
"Ahaa, you got me there! I'm Josuke, want me to show you around at some point?"
"I would be more than pleased, Josuke, I'm y/-"
"Y/N! Are you nearly done in there? I wanna take you somewhere nice for lunch!"
"Oh shit my cousin wants me, I'll see you around Josuke."
Haphazardly shoving the rest of my clothes into the bag I was off, leaving Josuke without even glancing back.

Carrying all of my shopping back home was a humbling experience, especially since I was the one who insisted on walking.
After lunch Rohan dragged me into an actual shop, mainly because he saw a sale on sherpa throws, but also because he insisted I needed new shoes, which unfortunately made up the bulk of my luggage.
The two of us chatted as we walked. For the most part it was just Rohan complaining about the local teens and warning me about them based on vague descriptors.
"Well they can't all be bad, I met a boy earlier who seemed pretty nice..."
"Yeah, he seemed nice. Give that boy an hour and he'll turn into the rudest piece of shit you'll meet. Teenage boys are horrible."
"We'll that's ok for you to say, but I'm not really in a position to be judging anyone."
"Mmmm, forgot about that. There'll be no reckless drinking in my house just so you know."
Setting down his bags, Rohan unlocked the front door and swung it open, picking up his bags and entering, kicking the door closed again as I followed.
"What about outside the house?"
"...Far away. And with people you can trust! Now go put your stuff away, I'm gonna start making dinner soon."
The first thing I did after unpacking everything was start battering my new shoes. The last thing I needed when I eventually go out to make friends was to be hobbling about in shoes that weren't broken in.
As I sat on the floor crunching the heels of my new boots, I thought back to that boy I met earlier, Josuke. I felt bad for leaving so suddenly... I never really thought about boys that much but he seemed different from anyone I've met before... maybe it was just his pompadour, or the fact that he was actually thoughtful and charming and kinda cute.
Ohhhhh no. I've developed a schoolgirl crush on a guy I don't even know!
Putting my boots to one side, I stood up and walked over to the red jacket I bought earlier, smiling as I slipped it on, searching through all my clothes for a nice outfit to go with it.
I can go out tomorrow to look for a job, and maybe I'll see Josuke while I'm out.
No that's weird, you had one conversation with this guy Y/N, get a grip!
I dropped my smile and took the jacket off, shoving it into a drawer as if that would make me stop thinking about Josuke. Unsurprisingly, it didn't, leading me to flop onto my bed face first and groan.
Two days. I've been here two days and I've already caused a problem for myself.
