Bella is shaking a little less than I am, hopefully, the blanket and sleeping bag that is piled on her has helped with that. I try to do what I did in Seattle, to think of warm thoughts. Thinking about the hot chocolate I had drank earlier this morning is interrupted when no other than Jakob Black walks into the tent.
"I can't sleep with all this chattering." He had carried Bella to the site earlier and I had honestly forgotten he was here, he had left earlier to run surveillance around the area, making sure they had not missed anything earlier.
"Hey Jake," Bella got out, shivering violently as she spoke.
He looked over at Bella and it didn't take a mind reader to realize what he is thinking.
"Are you out of your mind?" Edward asks, grabbing onto his shoulder roughly. As much as I wanted to be on my brother's side, I do think it could help to bring her body heat up a bit.
"She might want all her toes one day." He sneered, and looked over to me, "Besides, you have bigger problems to face if Doc or Sam find out that Elaine is sitting in the corner with no blanket. Let me help and we can give her one of them," Edward lightened his grip a little when he looked at me and saw a violent shiver go through me, "And let's face it, I am hotter than you." He adds. Which makes me roll my eyes and chuckle ever so slightly. This makes Edward mad again, but this stopped when Bella cut in.
"Please d-d-don't f-f-ight." She mutters.
With this, Edward sighs and releases Jacob. He slowly makes his way closer to Bella, before getting into the sleeping bag he lifts the top blanket and handed it to me, I took it hesitantly, Bella is slightly smiling, glad to be able to give me some cover back.
"Thank you, Jake," I whisper, pulling it around me.
Edward pulls the blanket tightly around my shoulders and makes sure I am covered all over. When Jake gets into the sleeping bag, Bella slowly starts to stop shaking and begins to drift off into sleep. I am still slightly shaking and I can tell both Edward and Jake feel bad because of this but they don't remark on it.
"If you are going to be so close to her can you please try and control your thoughts?" I hear Edward groan toward Jake.
Jake chuckles ever so slightly, proud of himself.
They start to converse a little, and I go into a daze, unconcerned with their teenage boy problems. I try to stop my shivering as much as possible. The blanket has helped some but it is still cold and I am still very unused to the sensation of being affected by it. I try thinking about Carlisle, about our time in the hotel.
The day after the whole disappearing act, we spent in the hotel room. Carlisle didn't feel the need to leave at all, he stated I was the only sight he needed to see. He had turned the heat up in our room too high, hoping that I would stay warm throughout the night and into the next morning. Honestly, he was going a little overboard but it was sweet, so I let it happen.
When I woke up in the morning, I had only been asleep for three hours. He gave me a very disapproved look as I was making coffee in the small hotel kitchen.
"If you need the caffeine to stay awake, maybe you should just go back to sleep. We aren't doing anything today, you could sleep in, maybe get some rest."
I looked at him, trying to think of something to say that would make him less concerned. In all honesty, I was exhausted. The cold from yesterday and all the chaos had made me a little drowsy. Every time I slept though since the accident, I was plagued with nightmares. It was usually just me almost hitting the person I know now to be Riley Biers, aiding Victoria. Carlisle had recently begun to notice the lack of sleep, especially since he has been off the last week for the wedding.
