They were soon given their ID cards. If this were to be their method of payment, then they were basically given credit cards, essentially. He could tell that this would prevent many students' financial troubles, and using cards was quite easier. He soon widened upon the number of points being loaded into his card.
One-hundred thousand points. That seemed suspicious, even to him.
Chabashira spoke again, "Your student cards can be used simply by swiping them through the machine scanner. The method is simple, so you shouldn't get confused," she said, demonstrating the motion of it with her hand. "Points are automatically deposited into your account on the first of every month. You should all have received 100,000 points already. Keep in mind that one point is worth one yen. No further explanation should be necessary."
Like him, the class was quite surprised, many of the students erupting and voicing it. It all seemed too good to be true if one-hundred thousand yen were to be the allowance they were given from the school. For free, no less. Not even his father had given that much of a monthly allowance to him. While Asahi grew up in quite the wealthy family, he didn't have the power to buy everything he pleased. There were certain things he had to earn by winning the approval of his father, especially when it came to competitions. So to think that this was the allowance they were given for free by the school, he suspected that there was a catch to this. A possibility that there's a consequence to this benefit. It just seemed too good to be true.
But even then, for a normal high school student, a hundred thousand yen allowance was rather a large sum. At the very least, he could see some of about a thousand yen or maybe a little bit more than that. Maybe even ten thousand yen, and that could still be considered an extreme amount for a high school student. When Asahi looked back up, he noticed a small, but unnoticeable grin on Chabashira's face.
"Shocked by the amount of points you've been given? This school evaluates its students' talents. Everyone here has passed the entrance examination, which itself speaks to your value and potential."
The red-haired boy yawned, leaning back in his chair. The entrance exam, or entrance examination as they called it, was something he didn't take. Because of his father's connection to the school's chairman, he was able to pull some strings that were able to get him in without even taking the exam. But still, as the chairman had stated, even if he had taken the examination and been evaluated, his qualities and abilities would have instantly landed him a spot in Class A.
But because of his father's orders, he had been placed down in Class D, the lowest. His father wants him to climb from all the way from the bottom to the very top to show that he deserves to inherit his father's position. He had been through a number of early studies as soon as he was able to. By the time he was just four years old, his father had begun his studies on how to read and write, a year later, Asahi began being pushed to the brink of his limits. Learning theories, math equations, and other studies that were a little earlier than when he should be learning them. They were grueling at best, at some point, even making him think that he wanted to quit. But that led to the fear of him losing, and losing wasn't something he wanted. If he had lost, then that would have meant he would have lost everything. It's like his father had told him.
Winning was everything, like breathing to them. Be at the top of everything, having the skills and excellence in order to obtain everything that he wished.
Asahi then continued to listen to Chabashira's explanation.
"The amount you've received reflects the evaluation of your worth. You can use your points without restraint. After graduation, however, all of your points return to the school. Because it's impossible to exchange your points for cash, there's no advantage to saving them," she explained briskly, her stoic tone ringing through their ears as she held her strict demeanor. "Once points have been deposited into your account, it's up to you how to spend them. Do as you like. In the event that you don't want to spend your points, you may transfer them to someone else. However, extorting money from your peers is not allowed. This school monitors bullying very seriously."
