As if the moon could sense that tonight was going to be one of the most important days of my life, it commanded the stars to shine as brightly as they could, and the moon provided an example for it shined a simmering grey. It was five past six and the sky had fallen into a pool of darkness. The maids as well as Olive had whisked Chiaki away hours ago to aide her in getting ready for the ceremony. With the help of five women minus Stella who will most likely just be focusing on herself, I'm sure Chiaki will look like a beautiful bride who just walked out of a bridal magazine.
Chaya was openly invited to tag along with the other women, but she declined for she said that make-up and fashion weren't really her forte and so she whisked herself away for a walk among the sandy shores of the lake.
"What if one of us gets cold feet?"
Sighing for Dean's paranoia about unbelievable possibilities brought me back to reality. He was pacing back and forth in the large sitting room while I stood before a body-length mirror adjusting my tie.
"You won't neither will Chiaki." The way they mirrored their love for one another in their eyes was not just a simple act to gain attention. They loved one another and I could not even imagine a scenario where either one of them would fail to go through with the wedding.
Only the rapture could stop this wedding.
"But what if we regret it? You know what if after we consummate the marriage, she decides that she doesn't love me anymore and then for the rest of my life I must live with the fact that I stole her bodily innocents!"
Suspiring loudly, I turned from the mirror and stalked towards Dean. "When a child goes out to a field to pick the most beautiful flower do you think their head is filled with thoughts of what could go wrong? Or do you think the child does not allow such thoughts to spoil their day?" Pausing I take hold of his messy tie which appears to have been tied by a toddler and begin to re-tie it while continuing, "My point is, why are you allowing self-doubt to capture your mind and spoil your day when God has blessed you with the most beautiful flower that will complete you?"
"I guess you'll right, I just want this day to be perfect for her." He smiled as if he couldn't wait to see her walking down the aisle towards him in a pure-white dress knowing they were only seconds away from becoming husband and wife.
He would become her shield and she, his sword. They would walk hand-in-hand into the battle between good and evil. They're bond would be unbreakable for they built their foundation on God and what is built on God cannot be shaken by the devil.
I had to grit my teeth from showing any hints of jealously among my face for the thought of being in his position and having Olive as my soon-to-be bride brought great envy within me. Truly I was happy for my friend, but I deeply wanted to be the one that was getting married today. However, I had no one to blame for my loneliness but myself for if I had simply not spoken of Cheyenna all those years ago then I could be in a happy relationship with Olive and yet I'm left to leave brisk kisses among her skin and soft whispers upon her ears. To watch on as she lives her life and all I can do is hope that before I get the chance to love her, no other man steals her from me.
That won't happen...I won't allow it to happen.
Finishing up with his tie I returned to the mirror to continue to adjust my own even though I knew there was nothing left to fix of it. But this was the only thing that was detracting my mind from such destructive thoughts. If my mind were to be a dog, then it would be a German Shephard for it was destructive by nature and couldn't control what it was designed to do. However, at times I feel I must muzzle it for it tries to run amuck within me and if I did not control it then I fear I would go as mad as the mad hatter himself and if possible, even madder.
