The boy's expression was apathetic, for the most part, but you noticed the way his jaw clenched when you brought up your class. "Yeah," he murmured. "I am from the General Department." He hesitated for a moment before taking your hand. "Shinsou Hitoshi. Though I doubt someone from the hero course would care to remember my name."

You could sense the bitterness in his tone and made sure to smile extra bright. "I'll remember it for sure. I have a pretty good memory, Shinsou-kun."

"I see. Good for you, then."

You were nearing the end of the line, and Shinsou had already grabbed his tray. You hurried to collect your own once you'd gotten all your helpings and stumbled after him.

"Shinsou-kun," you called out. "Would you like to eat with me and my friends?"

Shinsou cocked a brow, indigo eyes widening slightly. "You want me, someone from the General Department, to sit with kids from the Hero Course?"

"I don't really see what that has to do with anything. I can introduce you to everyone, and they're all really friendly."

"That's fine." He turned, glancing back over his shoulder. "But... I appreciate the offer. See you around, [Name]."

You slumped your shoulders, a tad dejected. Maybe you'd been too overbearing? But it really seemed like he had a personal vendetta against those in the Hero Course. It made sense. With the way your powers worked, if you'd taken the entrance exam and failed, you'd probably be pretty bitter about it, too.

You headed back towards your own table. Still, it's not like you were giving up that easy. Shinsou seemed like he was probably a pretty interesting guy. One way or another, you'd get to know him.

You'd tried asking your classmates about it, but other than Izuku, who still couldn't fully control his powers, it seemed like everyone was going to train their Quirks. You didn't really know how to do that, at least not without another person. Maybe you could practice on random people that you ran into on the streets? It probably wasn't the nicest thing to do, but... it's not like you had that many options, either.

You'd been walking with Izuku, Uraraka, and Iida to the train station these past few days. Izuku headed in the same direction as you, so you'd end up riding a few stops together. He was a sweet guy, and you really liked him, but you noticed that he always got extra nervous and blushy when it was just down to the two of you.

"Izuku-kun?"

"Y-Yes!" he squeaked.

You laughed. You'd barely even touched him on the shoulder, and he was already bright-red. "Sorry, didn't mean to surprise you. I was just thinking, since you can't really train your Quirk directly, maybe the two of us could spar and do other things to prepare? I'm trying to hide my Quirk up until the Sports Festival."

"Oh, yeah... that's true." He furrowed his brows at you. "Um, but if the two of us were to train together... do you mean like fighting?"

"Sparring or something, yeah."

"B-But I wouldn't want to hurt you, [Name]-chan." He stopped to realize what he'd just said, then furiously shook his hands. "N-Not that I'm trying to say I'm stronger than you or anything like that! Just, um-"

"It's fine," you giggled. "You're definitely stronger than me physically. I don't know if I'd even be any good to practice with, but I just thought the idea of training with a friend sounded nice." You smiled again, and Izuku's freckled cheeks flushed even further. He cast his head to the side, timidly averting your gaze.
