First Aphrodite, and now Ares too? You thought you'd already said your final goodbyes to the gods. You thought Zeus had made it clear that your worlds were destined to remain separate. He'd even explicitly forbidden it. And this was the guy who'd temporarily taken your Quirk away, so you kind of felt inclined to listen to him.

But you supposed the gods were notorious for not playing by the rules.

"It's been far too long," Ares exhaled dramatically. You watched as he leapt up from the bed, and in one fluid motion, proceeded to wrap his arms around you.

You sighed again, while patting him on the back. "There, there. You act like we haven't seen each other in forever, but I bet you've been keeping an eye on me this whole time."

"Spying on you-er, I mean, keeping an eye on you is different than actually seeing you in person, though."

"I realize that, but the only reason you haven't seen me in person is because you're not allowed to." You attempted to step away from him, but of course, he held onto you firmly, so you settled for rolling your eyes instead. "Ares. Whatever you do, please don't give Zeus an excuse to screw me over again."

"Don't worry about my father," Ares dismissed, with a sort of nonchalance that implied he wasn't talking about the leader of all the gods. "More importantly, you really gave me a fright. Remind me to thank Persephone and that gloomy husband of hers when I get the chance."

"I'm not sure Hades would appreciate you referring to him as someone's gloomy husband."

"What, am I wrong?"

You didn't really have an argument for that, and you also weren't about to inadvertently insult one of the reasons you were even still alive right now. It was clear that had been an exception. If you were ever to find yourself in death's grip again, your trip to the Underworld would be permanent.

But hopefully, that wouldn't happen for a very, very long time.

"Fine, but I want it to be known that I had nothing to do with this," you said. You continued to lightly push Ares back, and miraculously, he actually relented.

He was now smiling at you, with warmth and gentleness, just like Aphrodite had done earlier.

"I'm just relieved you're safe and sound," he mumbled fondly. "I know you're never as excited to see me as I am to see you, but I do care about you. I didn't want your life to be cut short. You deserve so much more than that. You deserve all the happiness in the world."

Your bottom lip began to tremble. This was weird. You weren't expecting to be comforted by Ares, of all people. Aphrodite, sure, but Ares? Sometimes, it was easy to forget that he was a literal god, with thousands of years worth of power, authority, and wisdom.

"...thank you," was all you could think to reply, in a soft, muted tone of voice. Fortunately, you'd gotten all your tears out with Aphrodite earlier. You were done crying for the day, and hopefully for a while.

"So," Ares beamed, clapping his hands together. "I've got a lot of fun things planned this evening. First, a war movie. I picked out a few options for you to choose from. Then, video games. I promise not to cheat this time. After that, we can try out those face masks Aphrodite mentioned to me before. Also-"

You let out a heavy groan. Just like that, he was back to his usual overbearing self. The illusion was nice while it lasted, at least.

"Ares, I'm way too tired to do any of that right now," you sighed. "I had a long day. I just want to get some sleep."

He arched his brow. "Already? What are you, a grandma?"

"No, that's Katsuki."

"Who?"
