The Lieutenant's Love

Addison and I were in the elevator with Teddy and Arizona. Teddy and Arizona were talking about Teddy having sex with Mark. Addison had pulled me in front of her as her hands went under my scrub top and her nails traced patterns over my skin.

"Life changing?" Arizona asked.

"Life changing. Earth-shattering. The point is he's a legend for a reason. I mean he has skills I never even knew existed. It's like there was a party going on," Teddy said.

"A party in your panties," Arizona said. The two burst into laughter. Owen went to get in the elevator but stopped once he saw me. Addison pulled her hands from under my top.

"We're good. I had a bad day and I took it out on you which won't happen again. You're my boss here," I said. He got in. "But if you're up for a rematch I've joined a boxing gym in town," I said.

"Does it help?" Teddy asked.

"What? Get me more sex? Absolutely," I said going to pull my scrub top up. Addison grabbed my hand before I could. The elevator stopped. Addison kissed me.

"You're going to be late for rounds now go," Addison shoved me out of the elevator.

I stood with Owen and Jackson at the pit waiting for an ambulance. Cristina, Teddy, Callie and other doctors joined us.

"What have we got?" Teddy asked.

"Cop with multiple GSWs," Owen said. Squad cars had rolled in followed by the ambulance.

"How many cops did you say?" Callie asked.

"Just one," Owen said.

"Officer Gina Thompson, 34, GSWs to the hip and chest. Vitals 100 over 70, pulse 118, respiration 28," The medic relayed. We quickly began working.

"That's quite a police escort there, Officer Thompson," Owen said.

"I told those guys I was gonna be fine," Officer Thompson said.

"Well yeah, I wonder why they didn't believe you," Cristina said.

"I been in worse shape," Officer Thompson said.

"Seriously?" Jackson asked.

"Oh, yeah. You should see the other guys," Officer Thompson said as three guys were wheeled in.

"You took down three guys by yourself?" Callie asked.

"Hey, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. Am I right, ladies?" Officer Thompson asked. We got her in a trauma room.

"Alright, there are way too many people in here," Hunt said.

"Sage out," Callie said. I took my gloves and gown off and walked out.

I was walking down the hallway with Addison. Alex had a patient up against the wall. The patient headbutted him. The two started fighting. Bailey came down the hallway. Meredith and Lexie tried to get Alex off him. I grabbed Alex and stood between the two of them.

"What, you hitting people now, too? You really did turn into Dad," The patient said. I assumed this was Alex's brother that Meredith told me about. Alex looked pissed off and angry.

"Let's take a walk. Come on. You wanna hit him but he's your little brother," I said. "Everyone knows only assholes punch on their younger siblings,"

Alex and I were at the peds nurses station.

"He said I'm like my dad," Alex said. "I can't be like my dad,"

"You're not Alex. I know you're not because if your dad was anything like mine I wouldn't let you anywhere near my boys," I said.

"I went to juvie as a kid. For theft," Alex said.

"And I was an addict. Drugs and alcohol. We do stupid shit okay? We're the guys that nobody expects anything great from cause we were dragged up instead of raised. But I know I worked my ass off to get here and if I have to drag you up with me I will cause I'm not doing this alone," I said. "My boys are already down a couple of family members. Between my parents and Em. They need their Uncle Alex," I said.

"I'm Uncle Alex. And I'm a big brother so I'll see you later," Alex said standing up.

Callie stopped me from leaving the locker room.

"I was unfair to you today. You experienced something that I could never understand or imagine. It affects you in a way I don't understand. Instead, all I saw was-" I cut Callie off.

"All you saw was your best friend's wife having a bad day which caused her to get violent with a man who saved her life? I get it. You're worried that I'd have an episode and that instead of Owen you'd find me hitting her or my boys," I said. "It scares me too. It terrifies me that I could hurt them but I see a therapist and it helps and I've actually started boxing to get that anger out. I'm working on doing better but I'm glad she's got you as a friend," I said. "But don't think you need to protect me from a gunshot case. If I'm gonna be a trauma surgeon I could deal with a lot of those and I'm good at them. You know from all that experience," I said.

"Okay I've got it," Callie said. "But if I ever find so much as a handprint on her I will break your hands. Understood?"

"Understood," I said.

I walked into the house. Addison sat on the couch with a glass of red wine wearing one of my t-shirts.

"Hey," Addison said walking over.

"Hey," I said as Addison pulled me into a kiss. "What's going on?"

"We have a free house and I think we should take some time to enjoy ourselves," Addison said.

"There's something going on. You've got a weird look on your face," I said.

"Callie's worried that you'd hurt me," Addison said.

"I know. We spoke about it," I said.

"I don't want you to go back to sleeping on the couch just because you're scared," Addison said playing with the hair on the back of my neck.

"Unless I really think it's going to be bad I will be staying wrapped around you in our bed for the foreseeable future," I said.

"Good," Addison said kissing me.

"So what did you have in mind for our alone time?" I asked.

"Whatever you want to do," Addison said.

"All I want is cuddles," I said.

"Okay, you go change into something comfier. I'll make us some drinks and snacks and we could go cuddle in the hammock," Addison said.

"Ooh sounds good. You want me to go get your book?" I asked.

"No it's on the table," Addison said. "Now go get changed," Addison said. I ran upstairs to get changed and came back down. Addison was laying in the hammock with her book. I walked over and climbed into the hammock. Addison lifted her arms and I lay on my stomach with my head on her chest. Addison looked at me. "How can someone so aggressive get so soft?" Addison teased.

"Still aggressive but in an "I'll snap a neck for you" sort of way," I said. Addison smiled as I traced shapes on her stomach.
