Neteyam was already hugging his dad when Aha'ri helped Lurei off of Kilvan. She gave him a moment with his family, despite every muscle inside her begging to push past everyone and find Kiri.
When Jake released Neteyam and let the rest of the family greet him, Jake turned to Aha'ri with a soft smile. What she didn't expect was for him to walk over and open his arms to her.
"Hi, Aha'ri," Jake said as he wrapped her in his arms.
For a moment, all she felt was the warm embrace of a dad she long had missed. She almost didn't want to let go.
Jake pulled away and saw Lurei bouncing on her feet, waiting patiently to hug him too.
He chuckled, "Hey, Lurei. How's it going?" He knelt down and opened his arms to her too.
"Much better now that we're on solid ground," she replied sweetly, hugging him back.
Aha'ri chuckled to herself watching her little sister talk Jake's ear off.
Neytiri made her way over with tears in her eyes. Aha'ri didn't know if they were left over from Neteyam or if they were for her.
They hugged and once again she almost melted at the feeling of a mother's embrace which was stolen from her long ago.
After Neytiri pulled away, she took Aha'ri's face in her hands and kissed her forehead. "I am so glad to see you," she said before pulling her in for another hug.
"Leave some of the hugging for us, mom," came a voice from behind her.
When Neytiri stepped away to greet Lurei, Kiri stood patiently waiting for her turn.
That was the sight that made Aha'ri officially lose it. Tears welled in her eyes and she held out her arms to her friend.
Kiri ran to her and embraced her with such force that she knocked the air from Aha'ri's lungs.
She rocked Kiri back and forth in a long-awaited hug.
"Son, what are you guys doing here?" Jake asked.
When Aha'ri pulled away from Kiri, everyone was standing in a circle, smiling and laughing with one another.
"After you guys left, we had Norm help us make a radio scanner so we could try and intercept Quaritch's radio transmissions and yesterday we intercepted a communication telling Quaritch they saw the gunship on their radar. We came as fast as we could to warn you guys that Quaritch and the recoms are on their way—if they aren't already here," Neteyan explained.
"Shit," Jake hissed under his breath.
Two Metkayina na'vi walked toward them. With their elaborate garbs, Aha'ri could only assume that they were Olo'eyktan and Tshaik.
Her eyes widened when she saw the olo'eyktan and the sheer size of him. If she thought Jake was tall, then he was a giant. His skin was a lighter slightly more green complexion than her own and his forearms had an extra width to them. Tattoos covered his face, trailing down his neck and to the tops of his shoulders.
The male wore a necklace that displayed large teeth from what Aha'ri could only imagine as some sort of beast. His ceremonial leather chest piece donned scales and crossed over his body. attached to the chest piece and draped over his shoulders was an orange woven string cloak that dangled and fell to his waist.
Aha'ri also noticed the tsahik at his side along with her swollen belly. She also wore a matching orange in both her woven top and long flowy skirt with small shiny seashells spread throughout her garb.
Before Aha'ri's parents died she had always wanted a family of her own someday. But seeing how the fight with the Sky People affected her little sister so much, she couldn't imagine raising a family in the middle of a war.
