An air of misery spread as the fog rolled in.
To anyone else, it would just be another foggy day. But to Class 77-B, it marked the day they would be forced to hunt for a ghost that may or may not exist.
Nagito walked slowly, his shoes making quiet clicking sounds that echoed in the empty hallway. He was a little distraught, to say the least... He wasn't sure if he wanted it to be revealed that a ghost has been following him around. He supposed it would make sense for someone as awful as him to get haunted by a ghost with malicious intentions, but this ghost didn't seem to be evil.
He sighed and as he reached his classroom door, his hand resting on the handle. He couldn't help but think about his luck, that a friendly ghost might have attached itself to him... He wasn't- he didn't deserve anything that... precious? He couldn't think of the right word.
"Um... are you going to go in or not, dude," Nagito turned his head and saw a nervous Kazuichi, who was looking at Nagito like he could explode and take him out at any second.
"Ah, yes... sorry," Nagito turned the knob and entered the classroom. He was met with the watchful eyes of his classmates.
Nagito was frozen, and he didn't know why. Those eyes were so intimidating, even though there was no intention behind them. He felt like he couldn't breathe.
All of a sudden Nagito felt a hand on his shoulder. It felt... reassuring. He looked behind him, to see if it was Kazuichi, but he had already slipped past Nagito and ran to Sonia.
Nagito kept standing there, confused, until Chisa beckoned him inside.
"Come on in, Mr. Komaeda! We have a very fun day today," Chisa had a mischievous glint in her eye, which made Nagito laugh.
"Sorry Miss Yukizome," Nagito replied and made his way over to his seat.
He felt heavy. But that seemed to be becoming the norm.
"Alright, class!" Chisa exclaimed, getting everyone's attention. She pulled a box out of seemingly nowhere and slammed it onto her podium, making a loud bang sound. "It's time to catch some ghosts!"
Ibuki shot up from her seat. "It's time to rock n' roll!" She cheered and rushed to the box, rummaging through the many delicate-looking services.
"Ah, careful now! These things were expensive," Chisa nervously warned as the class got up and hesitantly walked over towards her.
Chisa puffed out her cheeks and readied her stance, putting her hands on her hips triumphantly. "Come on, you impressionable youth! I've done my research on ghost hunting, and I believe I have only the top quality goods! Nekomaru! Would you be a dear and carry the box?"
"Of course, teach!" Just as Nekomaru was about to take the box from Ibuki, Akane snuck up and stole it from both of them.
"Hah! I got to it first! Bet I can beat you in a race even with this heavy box, Nekomaru!" Akane declared as she handled the box haphazardly.
Nekomaru chuckled and crossed his arms. "Oh, you're so sure? Well, then, I'll see you at the old well!"
Just like that, Nekomaru broke out into an explosive sprint, leaving dust and the sound of thunder ringing in everyone's ears.
"Hey! Wait up!" Akane took off after him, quickly catching up in the distance.
"Wait! Come back here-" Chisa sighed and turned to the rest of the class. "Well, you heard the man! To the old well!"
She started marching out the door, and the rest of the class trudged behind with a chorus of grumbles and groans.
The fog was unusually thick today, unnerving the students even more. They were clustered together as they walked down the dirt path, searching for the old abandoned well that was somewhere on the property.
