"How was school, boys?" Neytiri asked as she was making dinner. Neteyam and Lo'ak fell onto the sofa.
"I don't think it went well." Tuk commented.
"It did for Neteyam." Lo'ak rolled his eyes. "Mr. Perfect got 90% on his test."
"What did you get, Lo'ak?" Jake asked. Kiri looked nervous.
"...40%."
"Lo'ak, we came here to make a better future for ourselves. And you're here, not caring about your grades." Jake was disappointed.
"I'm trying, I just didn't get it, dad."
"Well, you'll have to learn to get it. Look at your brother, learn from him." Jake's words stung Lo'ak's heart, he grabbed his bag and stormed off to his room. Kiri followed to check on him. She knocked on the door to find him sitting on the floor, curled up with silent tears rolling down his face.
"Hey, bro."
Lo'ak sniffed. "Hey."
Kiri sat next to him. "Don't take it to heart. Mum and Dad just sacrificed a lot to get here. We just need to adapt more to the humans. Hell, even Spider is having trouble."
Lo'ak was still quiet; facing the floor, still curled up. "Fine. I'll try again tomorrow. I'll prove him wrong."

The next day, Lo'ak left his class when the bell rang. He walked down the street, feeling slightly more hopeful; like he felt he learnt something at his new school. Everything seemed brighter, clearer, better.
"Hey, look! It's the blue freak!"
Until they showed up.
"Haha! Look at his tail."
"He's so tall!"
"How's the weather up there jungle freak?" A group of humans from school have been picking on him for weeks now. Even though Lo'ak was a lot taller, he wouldn't be able to fight them all off at once.
"Leave me alone."
"Oh! Jungle freak is fighting back, c'mon, stop us then!" The leader of the boys shoved him.
"Guys, come on, please."
"Make us freak!" They all together shoved him onto the ground.
"Hey! Leave him alone!" A voice was heard from the distance, two girls ran up and shoved the boys onto the ground, a taste of their own medicine. One punched the boys leader, leaving him with a bloody nose.
"Agh, shit!" The leader wiped his nose, "C'mon guys, let's leave all the freaks to themselves!" They sat up and left the fight scene.
"Are you ok?" The girl that did the punch held out her hand. Lo'ak's heart raced at her sight, she had dark hair in ringlets and a glowing face. Lo'ak's face felt hotter as their hands touched.
"He doesn't look OK." The other girl asked.
"Dorothy don't say that. Sorry about her, she's my twin sister. I'm Dolly, don't worry we get called freaks too."
"Oh...nice to meet you, I'm Lo'ak." The Na'vi's gaze never left Dolly.
"That's an interesting name. So, wanna hang with us, make you feel better?" Dolly smiled gleamingly.
"Sure."
~*~
"So, you came from the world of Pandora and moved here in hope for a better life?" Dorothy asked. All three had retired in the park close to the school, the night sky was clear that night. The moon shone as bright as the sun.
"Yeah, but my brother Neteyam is doing great, his grades are perfect. He is perfect. Me...not so much." Lo'ak looked saddened.
Dolly placed a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, it'll be ok. Besides, results aren't the be all and end all."
"Thanks Dolly." Lo'ak's face was hot again, he smiled at Dolly, it was then her turn to feel warm.
"Lo'ak, do you wanna be our friend?" Dorothy held out a fistbump, along with Dolly.
Lo'ak for once felt acceptable for who he was. "Yes." He fistbumped them both.
"This is so cool! We're like a trio!" Dorothy clapped.
"This is gonna be so fun, it's like we're the three musketeers!" Dolly cheered. "We need to hang out every-"
"There you are! LO'AK!" Neteyam ran over, "I've been looking everywhere for you, I knew you were gonna be her-" Neteyam was cut off when he gazed at Dorothy, "Hi."
"Uhhh...hi?" Dorothy replied.
"I'm Neteyam."
"Dorothy."
"That's a beautiful name."
The two just started talking. Lo'ak and Dolly looked at eachother in confusion. "Hey, Lo'ak- follow me!" Dolly grabbed his hand and took him to a more secretive place.
"Why did you bring me here?" Lo'ak asked, blushing from the touch of her hand.
Dolly ignored him. "Oh look, a bench." She stood up and faced him; their noses were basically touching. "Now we can see..." Lo'ak could bare it no longer, he saw his chance there and then- he brought their faces closer, lips brushing against the others.
"...eye to eye..." Lo'ak brought them into a slow, meaningful kiss. Their lips locking around eachother's. Soft groans of passion being made as they held eachother tight in the night sky; them twinkling in the moonlight.
The end.
