No Rest for the Wicked

Resting your head against the side of plant's #201 bulb, you closed your eyes for a moment and allowed your body to slouch. Sitting on the floor with your back against the grid indicating the end of the walking platform between plants, you were pretty sure no one could see you from the entrance of the room.

Your body ached and you felt dizzy. Between the training with Livio and Razlo as well as your work with the plants' treatment, you had barely caught a break in the last two weeks. However, you had learned some pretty good news earlier today and you fully intended on taking advantage of the information, which was why you were currently trying to make yourself as comfortable as possible.

Letting drowsiness slowly drag you under the sweet rest of unconsciousness, you couldn't help but rethink about the day's earlier events.

'Again.'

Wiping the sweat off your brows with the back of your hand, you couldn't help but grunt at Livio's request. Bending your knees and bringing back your leg for a moment, you launched back towards him, short sword in hand.

You swung the weapon in direction of his left flank, aiming for the under-side of his arm. He moved to block you with the large knife he held in his right hand, but you saw it coming in time to deviated it with your unarmed arm, hitting the underside of his forearm with your palm. Even if your movements were clearly slower than at the start of the day's session, you still had improved from when you had started training with the white-haired man, despite the pilled-up exhaustion of the past weeks doing you no favors.

As your sword had a clear path for the man under-arm you felt a bit of pride bloom in you. However, that sentiment was cut short when the man's heavy foot hit you directly in the middle of your chest, forcing the air out of your lungs as it sent you flying backwards mercilessly.

Landing ungracefully several dozens of feet away on your back, you let out a small cry of pain when your body hit the floor. You laid there, groaning and grimacing at your aching body as you heard the man walk towards you.

'What the hell was that for?' you managed to croak out while still panting, letting your vision stabilize as you stared at the ceiling. 'I wasn't actually going to hurt you- I thought we agreed on that, no?'

'My bad Dolly, I jumped out and didn't recognize ya.'

The change in the man's intonation surprised you, inciting you to lift your head to better look at him as he was still approaching you. Once you saw the glint in his golden eyes, you immediately confirmed what your instincts told you.

'Razlo.'

'Ya're pretty good at this, gotta admit,' replied the man with a deviant smirk as he finally towered above you while extending his unarmed hand.

You pushed yourself up on your elbows before grabbing his hand.

'Which part- the telling you guys apart or the tanking your kicks?' you asked with a scoff before the white-haired man practically lifted you off the floor and unto your feet in one swift movement.

You heard his wicked and slightly deranged laugh beside you as you patted yourself over and stretched your limbs in search of injuries more serious than some bruises. You found nothing.

'Both- plus s'rprising Liv enough to get me out.' He resumed once his laughter died down, but with a grin on his slightly tanned face.

You shot him an interrogative look, your eyebrow lifted, but the man either didn't see it or ignored it because he simply busied himself with putting his knife back into its sheath on the inner side of his vest.
