Chapter 17
NuriOnce we were done with our dinner and everything was cleaned and put away, Mizail finally showed me what was in the box he'd been carrying around everywhere. He said it was a telecommunicator that Kaisen made so that we could talk with anybody whether they were in this tribe or the other. He had placed it on my wrist and showed me how to find somebody in the ever growing directory. He explained to me that the four main tribes of the alliance were still adding their tribe to the directory so it'd get longer in the next few days. In my excitement, I had found Lily, Yareli, and Wren in the directory but Mizail told me to hold off on communicating with Lily. He didn't tell me why but it must've had something to do with the upcoming mating season.
Once Mizail left, the words from earlier finally hit me like a brick as my face heated. I had told Azora in front of all of those Aloreans that I was going to spend the mating season with Mizail. And the man himself found out, but his reaction to the entire thing took me by surprise. He wasn't against spending the mating season with me, he was worried that I'd be uncomfortable with him. On top of that, he called me beautiful when I knew I looked messy after my nap. I wish I had met somebody like him back on Earth instead of my ex husband. Maybe I would've been happier but had that happened, I wouldn't have met Mizail. That thought alone made me grateful about what I did to be here.
The next few days passed by in a blur. We'd eat lunch and enjoy each other's company at my house then proceed with our daily activities. By nightfall, I'd head over to his house and have dinner there with him. The first time I stepped foot in his house, I felt small but at the same time I was amazed. As soon as you step through the large wooden front door, you were in a large foyer that seemed to have air conditioning in this heat. When I questioned him on that, he told me that it was the Idetrians magic. That's what keeps the inside of the mountain where I lived a cool temperature during the day.
Past his foyer was his large living room where two huge sofas sat across from each other with a small table separating them along with these humongous cushions. Off on the farthest wall was a glass double door though I couldn't see through it. Just to the right of the foyer was a hallway that led to a few rooms and a large spacious bathroom with a large in-ground pool and a walk-in shower. When I asked him about the pool, he just laughed. He explained to me that it was in fact a bathtub. It had to be big enough to accommodate a full grown Alorean and their wings.
Sighing, I rinsed the dishes that Mizail handed to me. "Dinner was pretty good tonight." I commented while placing the plate on the mat with the other dishes. Tonight's meal had stuffed me full and I was now ready to go to bed. This had been our fourth day of having dinner together and I was enjoying every last bit of it.
"There's something I want to show you before you turn in for tonight." He smiled as I leaned on him.
"As long as it's not too far," I mumbled as laughter rumbled through his body to my own. As I placed the last dish on the mat, I wrapped my arm around Mizail's while he guided me out to the living room. He didn't stop there as he led me over to the glass double doors before pulling them open and stepping through. My feet went from the smooth floor of his house to the stone linoleum on this sunroom. Much like Mizail's living, this room was just as big with those giant cushions lying about. The windows all around us were tinted a darker color but it didn't obscure our view just beyond it. Black flames lit up the large space in their usual glass containers on the glass ceiling.
"From here, you can see the desert." He explained while walking us closer towards the edge where the cliff seemed to sit a little higher than the fog. Creatures moved amongst the darkness as the stars shone brightly overhead in the clear night sky. "So, what do you think?" He questioned while turning towards me as I smiled up at him.
